An eventful day two of DDT Wrestle Peter Pan 2025 emanated from Korakuen Hall, ending in an unexpected title change. Here’s what went down during the show:
Yuki Ueno toppled Kazusada Higuchi in an excellent main event to become the new KO-D Openweight champion. It would be his second reign, following his previous one, where he successfully defended the title seven times.
Unfortunately for him, it didn’t last long.
One of the holders of the four Right to Challenge Anytime, Anywhere arm sleeves, Kazuki Hirata, would come out and hesitantly cash in his title opportunity. He shocked the world and pinned Ueno in a flash to become KO-D Openweight champion for the first time in his 15-year career.
The Right to Challenge Anytime, Anywhere concept was reintroduced earlier this month. This idea was first introduced in 2012, where multiple title opportunities for any title in DDT were contested in a battle royale in the form of contracts, which eventually became objects. Those prizes could be won by other wrestlers by pinning, submitting, or knocking out any of their current holders in any match.
Hirata, who won his right to challenge in a three-way and didn’t lose it in any of his matches that followed, leading to Wrestle Peter Pan, chose the right time to use it. Ueno was exhausted after a hard-fought battle against Higuchi, and the veteran took full advantage of it to pin him in under three minutes.

Hirata: I wanted to show this to the fans. Thank you so much. BUT! I can’t keep my guard down. I won’t immediately become stronger, OKAY??
I’ll run away from scary things!

The Ace and President of NJPW, Hiroshi Tanahashi, was victorious over one of DDT’s icons, Danshoku Dieno, in the first of the double main event matches. This match was supposed to be the one before the double main event, but the match order was changed on the day of the show.
It was an entertaining clash of styles, as both men wrestled like their usual selves. However, Tanahashi deviated and played Dieno’s game, even using his opponent’s signature Lip Lock before submitting him to win.
In what could be Tanahashi’s final match in a DDT ring, Dieno gave him DDT’s best, even using moves from his fellow icons like Masa Takanashi, Yukio Sakaguchi, and Kota Ibushi. Tanahashi thanked the fans and his opponent after the match, which Dieno reciprocated with an “I love you” to the Ace.
Minoru Suzuki successfully defended the DDT Universal title for the fourth time, beating Strange Love Connection’s MAO. After winning, the champion took the mic and told MAO that he had fun.
He then proceeded to find his next challenger from the roster, saying that everybody’s scared because no one is present. Takeshi Masada proved him wrong and came out to look him right in his face, only to be ignored.
Suzuki dismissed him at first, saying, “Maybe when you’re stronger.” But the young Masada provoked him by saying, “Are you running away?” which obviously offended the champion and got him a title shot booked for September 28.
Yukio Naya and Yuki Iino of The Apex are still the KO-D Tag Team champions after beating HARASHIMA and Shinya Aoki for their third successful defense. The contenders took control early on with Aoki’s flawless grappling, but the champions fought back, and Naya once again got them the victory.
After the match, DDT Extreme Champion To-y and Yuya Koroku came out to declare themselves as their next challengers. Koroku currently holds one of the Right to Challenge sleeves, but chose not to use it.
Iino expressed his desire to take the sleeve from him, which he will have the opportunity to do on September 23 when they face him and To-y for the tag belts.
In other news, CyberFight President and DDT founder Sanshiro Takagi announced during the show that his in-ring comeback will be on November 3rd at this year’s Ultimate Party. He handpicked rookie Hinata Kasai, who just had his debut match on day one, as his opponent.
