WWE Superstar Gunther is someone who doesn’t mince his words. Since being a guest on the recent episode of The Undertaker’s podcast, Six Feet Under, fans have gotten a better look at the man outside the ring. One thing that fans learned about “The Ring General” is that he doesn’t think people should travel far just to meet him.
GUNTHER told a WWE fan who travelled nine hours to meet him at a recent meet and greet that they need to "do something better with their time" 😅pic.twitter.com/xkV2qOfuJD— WrestleTalk (@WrestleTalk_TV) August 7, 2025
On the podcast, Gunther told a story about when he told a fan not to ever travel nine hours again just to meet him. Some people might think he was being rude to the fans. After all, Gunther is best known as a heel in the company, but it could also be looked at from a different view — he’s just a super humble guy. He said:
“I did like a meet and greet recently. There was like one person they said drove like nine hours or something to the meet and greet. And I said to her, I was like, ‘Appreciate it, but never do that again. You do something really great. Do something. No, do something with your time that actually benefits you.’ It’s like a waste of time. And I felt like she looked a bit sad, but I felt like that’s the only responsible thing to say at this point. I feel like if my kid would drive somewhere to see that person, I wish the same message would be translated. Please don’t do that.” (h/t: Cagesideseats)
As noted, since losing the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam to CM Punk, who later lost the title to Seth Rollins, Gunther has been out with an injury. Even before his SummerSlam match, Gunther had been dealing with a nose injury.
Since the interview, fans have reacted to his blunt comments on social media, and not surprisingly, they aren’t too happy with The Ring General. One fan wrote on X, “Sounds like a great way to treat your fans,” while another said, “What an a–hole. He’s not wrong, but that’s not the point. That’s what this fan wanted to do with his time.”
“Ignorant….that logic, he thinks the same about the fans that watch him every week? Travel to see him live? The f–k,” wrote one fan. Another fan thought the comments were sad, writing, “That's really sad, but people don't waste your time and Money on this Guy. He showed his true feelings for the Wrestling Fans."
Though Gunther did have some wrestling fans on his side. A fan tweeted, “Respect to Gunther for bringing her back to reality,” and another brought up his heel persona, “You all need to chill... It's WWE's podcast, and he is still in heel character.” It's safe to say that whatever people think, Gunther probably won't care anyway.
