This week, Hulk Hogan announced he's starting a new wrestling company with former boss Eric Bischoff. It's the latest in his portfolio of ambitious projects outside of the ring, but the duo has yet to finalize a start date or a television contract.
Hogan has embarked on a media tour to promote his new venture, but in true Hulkster fashion, he just can't help but spew some outlandish statements. In an interview with TMZ Sports, the 71-year-old made a preposterous claim centered around Brock Lesnar.
In the middle of his monologue, Hogan started rattling off some notable opponents with a catch wrestling background. "I've been in the ring with some really crazy wrestlers," Hogan said. "I got Brock Lesnar right after he left the UFC. I got him first."
Hogan was only involved in two matches with Lesnar in the summers of 2002 and 2003. "The Beast Incarnate" didn't sign his contract with the UFC until 2008. When Lesnar left the world of UFC to re-sign with the WWE in April of 2012, his first program back was with John Cena.
At the time, Hogan was coming off the heels of his final bout a few months prior at a TNA house show before entering a lengthy feud with the Aces & Eights stable. Hogan likely meant that he was one of Lesnar's first challengers when he burst onto the scene as a rookie out of OVW over two decades ago.
It's another comical fib from the master of tall tales—I'm sure it won't be the last.
