This past Friday’s episode of WWE SmackDown saw Jade Cargill get injured in her match against Nia Jax and WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton. PWInsider Elite has an update on how Cargill is doing after she was thrown into the ring steps by Nia Jax and started to bleed above her right eye.
The word making the rounds at Raw this past Monday is that Jade Cargill only needed stitches to close the huge gash she suffered on Smackdown and did not require plastic surgery. The hope internally is that Cargill could be cleared within a few weeks to return to action.… pic.twitter.com/6GRBZ6KzbJ— WrestlePurists (@WrestlePurists) October 1, 2025
As per PWInsider Elite, Cargill only required stitches to close the cut that was above her eye and should be back in just a few weeks. Cargill will also not be pulled from WWE’s road schedule either. Cargill shared the injury on Instagram, with the caption, “Don’t question the love I have for this game.”
Several of her peers commented on the brutal photo. AEW Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa wrote:
“Ouch…. Girl take care of that pretty face”
While WWE Superstar Otis said:
“Just a scratch Beautiful Ohhh YEAAA.”
One-half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles, Charlotte Flair commented:
“Jade….. more fire af now!”
WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash said:
“Not that beautiful face!”
Another WWE Hall of Famer, Brie Bella, also commented:
“Oh man!! Get better!”
Other wrestlers that commented include NXT Superstars Blake Monroe, Nikkita Lyons, and Jaida Parker, the other half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles, Alexa Bliss, and Mick Foley’s daughter, Noelle.
The ending of the main event was affected by Jade’s steel steps injury. As noted, it forced producer Tyson Kidd to restructure the match's finish while it was still ongoing. This all led to confusion and a botch.
WWE official Daphanie LaShaunn had counted to two even though Jax didn’t kick out or raise her shoulder on Stratton’s pin attempt. She didn’t count to three because LaShaunn knew this wasn't the planned finish. The finish ended with Stratton hitting Jax with the Prettiest Moonsault Ever to retain her title. So while the match was unfortunately plagued by a botched finish, luckily, Cargill is doing just fine.
It's worth mentioning that even before the injury and the botched finish happened, the title match had already been dealing with a curse. Stratton was originally going to have the title match at Wrestlepalooza, but due to a botched moonsault and her hitting her head, WWE pulled her from the event, and she was also pulled from NXT Homecoming. It was all precautionary, and the match was moved to the September 26 episode of SmackDown.
