John Cena has announced that a tournament will take place to determine his final opponent at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event on December 13th, in his final match in pro wrestling. Cena appeared in a segment on the same special show tonight (November 1st) to break the news.
Cena gave the big announcement of 'The Last Time is Now Tournament' and explained the guidelines. There will be participants from RAW, SmackDown, NXT and even some faces from elsewhere, presumably TNA.
The 48-year-old wants the winner to step up and take the opportunity as he did when debuting and taking on Kurt Angle. It's an intriguing direction that will eventually lead to the tournament winner retiring the 17-time world champion.

This stirs up all sorts of possibilities, such as the rumoured frontrunner Gunther booking his ticket to SNME and another retirement match. The Ring General defeated Goldberg in the WWE and WCW icon's final pro wrestling match back in July.
Other candidates include Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio, or Bron Breakker, two members of the current roster many are tipping to succeed Cena as the face of WWE. There is a possibility that some of his former rivals try to get one more match, including CM Punk and Randy Orton.
There's also a slight chance we see a non-WWE talent face Cena, with the TNA partnership likely to lead to several surprise participants. The likes of Leon Slater and Matt Cardona could be outside picks should they enter the tournament.
Cena revealed that the race to be his final opponent kicks off on November 10th on RAW, and he'll be in attendance. It will be the same night he makes his last appearance as a WWE wrestler in his hometown of Boston, Massachusetts.
