Karrion Kross Gives an Update on His WWE Future

Over the past several months, Karrion Kross has transformed into one of the most organic babyfaces in pro wrestling. Like Zach Ryder over a decade before him, Kross' meteoric popularity is thanks to the internet and the idea that the WWE machine is holding him down from reaching his true potential.

Kross has used this narrative, blended with real-life frustrations with his place on the card, to blur the lines between kayfabe and genuine feelings, with a few sly comments and a scathing promo on the WrestleMania post-show. He's currently one of the top merch movers in the company, and even his matches on "Main Event" are getting audible reactions. But what's next for Kross in WWE?

While talking to Ariel Helwani on his self-titled show, Kross spoke about how he envisions his immediate future in the promotion.

"I hope that I'm given the flexibility to lean into what the crowd wants from me," Kross said. "More than titles, more than winning—more than anything. At the end of the day, it's about giving the audience what they want. I want to stop going out there and feeling like I'm giving something they don't want."

You can hear in the inflection of his voice how desperately Kross wants to be a consistent player in WWE. He clearly cares about the connection with the fans and wants to do right by them.

It's easy to blame the wrestler when they are in a subpar angle, but sometimes they are just doing what they are told from creative. Kross only has so much of a say in his storylines and how frequently management decides to book him.

Kross deserves at least a sustained push for a few months and the opportunity to be heavily featured on programming. The fact that he's still stuck in C-show purgatory is only an indictment of Triple H and the writers for their inability to strike when something naturally comes to fruition.
