  • Kross & Scarlett to appear at post-WWE event on 9/21
  • Kross left WWE due to contract snub with 24-hour deadline
  • The independent wrestling circuit offers new opportunities

It was nine days ago, on August 10, when both Karrion Kross and Scarlett announced on social media that their contracts with WWE had expired, and they were finished with the business. Now, Kross and Scarlett have been announced for their first post-WWE event.

The Couple’s First Event Since WWE Departure

WrestlePro announced that Kross and Scarlett are scheduled for its “Killer Smokeshow” event on Sunday, September 21, at the Rahway Rec Center in Rahway, New Jersey.

Kross will also be in action, though his opponent has yet to be revealed. It’s his first match announced since leaving WWE. His last match was at Night 1 of the WWE SummerSlam PLE. There, he lost to Sami Zayn, and the loss of the match was one of the first clues that he was leaving the company.

So, when did Kross last wrestle at a WrestlePro event? In May 2022, at the same location — the Rahway Rec Center. The former WWE star defeated hometown star LSG.

His other past opponents include former AEW wrestler and GCW owner Joey Janela, former ROH star Flip Gordon, and indie star Dan Maff. All of those matches took place before his second WWE run. His first run with the company was from February 2020 to November 2021, while his second lasted from August 2022 to August 2025.

During his final year with WWE, he and Scarlett had full fan support for a push from the company. Right before the duo was released, WWE fans were chanting, “We Want Kross.” The chants were even notoriously misheard by WWE Chief Content Officer Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque during the post-SummerSlam show.

Recap On Why Karrion Kross Didn’t Re-Sign With WWE

A few days after the news about Kross not re-signing with the company, Kross sat down with Ariel Helwani. He revealed some shocking details. First, the contract offer was a last-minute one, two days after his SummerSlam match. Kross was only given 24 hours to sign it, and the last thing that stuck out was that Scarlett was left out of the proposal. Fans who have followed his career know that the couple is a packaged deal.

So it looks like Kross and Scarlett are officially back on the independent wrestling circuit, which always seems like a place for former WWE stars to shine. It’s no secret that WWE buried his career. Even towards the end, when fans demanded more Kross, the higher-ups ignored it.
