  • LA Knight regains the U.S. Championship in thrilling battle
  • Fans celebrate WWE righting a wrong by giving Knight the title again
  • Knight's win sets up potential WrestleMania program, leaves fans excited for future

In a thrilling conclusion to Friday's episode of WWE SmackDown on March 7, 2025, LA Knight defeated Shinsuke Nakamura to reclaim the United States Championship. The win marked Knight’s second reign with the title, a moment many fans have been clamoring for since he surprisingly lost the title in the first place. It was the second WWE program this week that ended with an unexpected title change.

Knight Wins Back The U.S. Championship

The match itself was a hard-fought battle, with Nakamura controlling the early moments. However, the babyface Knight fought back, landing a bulldog to shift momentum in his favor. As the match came to a conclusion, the bout's big moment came when veteran referee Charles Robinson was inadvertently misted, taking him out of commission. Nakamura tried to use a chair when the opportunity struck. Knight reversed and went to win the championship after he hit Nakamura with a BFT onto a chair. No official meant someone like Knight typically would have been a problem in other situations, but a second official rushed down to officiate and count the three for the win.

The show ended with Knight holding the title again and the WWE Universe going wild. WWE set off pyro to celebrate Knight's win.

Nakamura's Title Run Just Quite Hit

For many fans, this win felt like WWE was righting a wrong. Social media was flooded with reactions from members of the WWE Universe who thought Knight should have never lost the title in the first place. Knight has become one of WWE’s most popular acts over the past two years and when the title was given to Nakamura, he showed up out of nowhere after some time away. Nakamura proved to be a formidable opponent, but WWE didn't really promote his reign. As a result, it was met with mixed reactions.

Giving Knight the title back puts the championship on a massively over star and sets up a potential program for WrestleMania that fans will get behind. He is a legitimate main event talent, and it will bring more notoriety to the match WWE books at the Showcase of the Immortals.

The win not only reaffirms Knight as a top-tier superstar but also leaves fans eager to see what’s next. Many believe the next challenger for the championship could coincide with the return of Aleister Black.
