The top of Monday Night RAW is going to look a lot different now as there is a new WWE Champion crowned. There was a highly-anticipated Wrestlemania 42 rematch between Jey Uso and Gunther for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and a different outcome happened as Gunther stood tall to become the WWE Champion once again. Let’s take a deeper dive into what this means and what happens going forward.

Gunther Becomes New WWE Champion

Gunther originally lost his WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania 41 Night 1 against Jey Uso, but he was able to get a rematch and made it for the Monday Night Raw following the Money in the Bank Premium Live Event, a show where Uso was in a tag team match with Cody Rhodes against John Cena and Logan Paul. Gunther dominated and was able to win his second WWE Championship with a sleeper hold.

This officially ends Jey Uso’s championship reign at 52 days. Now, this creates some intrigue as Gunther has to watch his back for Mr. Money in the Bank Seth Rollins as well as potentially the winner of the King of the Ring Tournament, who would get a championship match at Summerslam.

The rumors of Goldberg showing up did not happen and we will have to wait and see who challenges ‘The Ring General’ for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the Night of Champions Premium Live Event. There are a list of names as it appears that Gunther is still going to remain as a heel. However, with the style that Gunther wrestles, there can be face and heel challengers so this will be interesting.

There was no tease of Rollins cashing in the Money in the Bank briefcase after the match, but do not be surprised to see some teases during the title reign. It will be interesting to see how long Gunther is able to reign as the WWE Champion.
