Quick Fixes To The WrestleMania 42 Women’s Conundrum

Remember when WWE set a quota for six women’s matches? Only four have been confirmed so far, and there was at least one notable omission from the official card reveal on Tuesday: Iyo Sky’s grudge match against Asuka.

Why the holdup for that match? That is because, according to Wrestling Observer Figure Four Online’s Bryan Alvarez, WWE is still awaiting a medical update on Nikki Bella. If she is not cleared, she and her twin sister Brie will be replaced in the Women’s tag title four-way match by Asuka and Kairi Sane.

The implication is clear: someone else’s injury could keep Sky off the card entirely. That is rather unfair for someone who defeated both Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair in a title match a year ago. Fortunately, there are a couple easy solutions should that worst-case scenario happen…

Put B-Fab And Michin In The Tag Title Match

Jade Cargill has new allies in the form of B-Fab and Michin, so why give them a chance to wrestle together?

Sure, it is highly unlikely that they win, but it is a fatal four-way match. Perhaps two or all of the other three teams involved are too busy hating on each other, then B-Fab or Michin steals the pin.

Add that to Cargill retaining the WWE Women’s Championship against Rhea Ripley, and Triple H has himself another dominant power stable. Have them rule all the way to SummerSlam, and better yet, how about Bianca Belair and Naomi form an uneasy alliance against them when they return? Maybe involve Bayley as well if she is split from Lyra Valkyria, because she knows both women well.

It has been a while since a female power stable has held much gold. Rough start notwithstanding, the time to pull the trigger on a new one is now.

Pit Iyo Sky or Asuka Against Stephanie Vaquer

As it turns out, however, Bella is not the only injury casualty in the women’s roster as WrestleMania 42 looms.

Liv Morgan is on concussion protocol after Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer rammed her headfirst into Roxanne Perez on Monday’s episode of Raw. She recently posted a photo of a massive bump on her forehead, and while she implied that she feels fine, a precautionary removal should not be ruled out. Professional wrestling is, after all, still a form of combat despite its scripted nature, and injuries are still common.

Should that be the case, Vaquer will need a new challenger. Sky represents a rerun of their Wrestlepalooza match in September. Meanwhile, Asuka wants to finally win at The Grandest Stage of All, and doing so will raise the stakes of her rivalry with Sky.

As for whoever is left out, she could get an open challenge. Randy Orton did one last year after Kevin Owens’ neck injury suddenly left him directionless for WrestleMania 41. He then had a fun match with then-TNA World Champion Joe Hendry.

Why not do the same with the women? For example, Chelsea Green finally returns to the ring, with new ally Tiffany Stratton in tow. Maybe Jacy Jayne finally joins the main roster after a long tenure in NXT that has seen multiple title reigns.

End Of My WrestleMania 42 Rant

A year after a splendid debut, WrestleMania’s sophomore outing in Sin City has had a rough road.

Injuries have not helped, but there is also the sense that the booking all around has felt scattershot. Just look at Pat McAfee siding with Orton. Do celebrities really have to influence the WrestleMania main event for two years in a row? Definitely not, if the fans are asked.

If Sky is really taken off WrestleMania 42 because of Bella’s injury, it represents another instance of the haphazard booking. WWE had around a month or two to build on her story with Asuka and Sane, and they might have nothing to show for it…
