The story of Roman Reigns and Jey Uso is one of family and a deep Samoan bond that evolved into one of WWE’s most emotional rivalries and alliances. Their journey began at Hell in a Cell 2020, where Reigns defeated Jey in a brutal match to claim the Ula Fala, cementing his dominance as ‘The Tribal Chief.’

From there, the two cousins joined forces, forming The Bloodline alongside Jimmy Uso, Sami Zayn, and Solo Sikoa, a faction that ruled WWE from 2020 to 2024. At their peak, The Bloodline held nearly every major title in the company: Reigns reigned as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, while The Usos controlled both sets of tag team titles.

But as dominance turned to ego and loyalty turned to doubt, cracks began to form. The once-unbreakable group splintered, a turning point that proved to be a blessing in disguise for Jey Uso. Freed from the shadow of his cousin, Jey stepped into the spotlight and reinvented himself as a singles star.

His trademark catchphrase ‘Yeet!’ became a fan favorite, and his momentum carried him all the way to WrestleMania 41, where he defeated Gunther to capture the World Heavyweight Championship. Since then, he has become a consistent main-eventer on Raw, carving out his own legacy. Despite their complicated past, Reigns has recently embraced a more reflective role, acting as a mentor to Jey

Ahead of Clash in Paris, he urged his cousin to recognize his true potential and stay focused on greatness. That mentorship continued on last week’s Raw, where Reigns offered words of wisdom while addressing the lingering tension with Jimmy Uso. Appearing on The Pat McAfee Show, Reigns spoke openly about Jey’s rise in the WWE.

I saw this from the beginning. Just like Sami, I saw this beautiful opportunity within Jey a long time ago, and we’re just now kind of seeing that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow with him. But there’s so much more left to do with him.

Reigns acknowledged that there are still many accolades and opportunities waiting for Jey, but reminded him that reaching the top is only half the battle. The true challenge lies in staying there and remaining relevant by performing at the highest level. However, the former WWE Champion admitted that he wishes Jey would take his advice to heart more often.

I wish he would listen to me a lot better. I wish his brother would just shut up and listen to me as well. It would make life a lot easier, because at the end of the day. I got the proof of concept. I’m the one who’s mapped this thing out. I’m the only one that understands how to get back to the new land.

The comment follows a message Reigns shared with Jey and Jimmy Uso during their recent reunion. Up next, ‘The Tribal Chief’ is set to face Bronson Reed in an Australian Street Fight at WWE Crown Jewel, taking place at the RAC Arena in Perth, Western Australia, on October 11.

Roman Reigns talks about the challenges of being a Hollywood actor after Street Fighter

With his WWE return now in full swing, Roman Reigns has opened up about the challenges and rewards of balancing life as one of wrestling’s biggest stars with his growing career in Hollywood. For those unaware, he is set to portray Akuma in the upcoming live-action Street Fighter reboot, slated for a 2026 release.

It marks his most prominent acting role yet. Reigns previously appeared in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw and The Pickup. His time away from the company for filming was explained through a storyline injury, the result of a post-match attack by The Vision’s Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed at Clash in Paris.

Now that filming has wrapped, Reigns is back and continuing his rivalry with The Vision. He is now scheduled to face Reed in an Australian Street Fight at the upcoming Crown Jewel premium live event. Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, Reigns discussed the adjustment of stepping into a completely different environment.

I’m so used to my WWE bubble and that process. Being live, jetting in and jetting out, having the bus and my own creative space. I had to rewire myself to be ready for a different process. It was fun and a good time. There was one moment in time where I was like, This is what being a movie star feels like.

Continuing the storyline buildup ahead of Crown Jewel, Reigns also mentioned that he was feeling exhausted from weeks of filming and that his body was sore. This ties perfectly into the narrative he has been presenting of not being in prime shape ahead of the bout.

By hinting that he’s not at 100%, Reigns may also be setting the stage for a potential loss, allowing WWE’s creative team to give Reed a major hometown victory in Perth.
