On August 31, live from the Paris La Défense Arena, Seth Rollins will put his World Heavyweight Championship on the line in a Fatal-4-Way showdown at WWE Clash in Paris. ‘The Visionary’ has to go through the likes of CM Punk, LA Knight, and Jey Uso in order to keep the gold around his waist. It’s going to be one heck of a job for the reigning kingpin.
But how did it come together? This week on Raw, Punk and Knight took on Rollins’ henchmen, Bron Breakker and “Big” Bronson Reed, in the main event. Just when it seemed like the veterans were in cruise control, Rollins, out of nowhere, blindsided the ‘Best in the World’, causing the match to end in a disqualification. The assault also spilled over to Knight.
However, it didn’t take long for Jey Uso to make his way out with a steel chair in his hands. He removed Breakker and Reed from the equation, with Rollins narrowly ducking underneath a wild swing of the chair at him. Just as The Vision members gathered outside the ring and were talking trash with Uso, Punk, and Knight, Raw GM Adam Pearce entered the scene.

Pearce asserted that he should’ve been ideally incensed at ‘The Architect’ for faking a knee injury and crashing Raw main events at will. However, he wasn’t upset, as the general manager knew he had a golden opportunity up his sleeve to make Rollins pay for his deeds. The on-screen authority figure then announced that the erstwhile Shield member will put his world title up for grabs at the upcoming Clash in Paris PLE, as already stated above.
The multi-man title match that Seth Rollins has booked himself into at Clash in Paris falls in line with a recent report that claimed Roman Reigns wouldn’t be challenging him right away. These career-long rivals last stood across from each other in a formal match back in April at WrestleMania 41 in a three-way also including CM Punk. The outcome of that power struggle between two of WWE’s biggest stars saw Rollins pin Reigns after a double turn by Paul Heyman to align with the Iowa native.
On last week’s Raw, ‘The OTC’ and ‘The Visionary’ were about to trade blows for the first time since Raw after WrestleMania, but the current world champ opted out. The latter’s insurance policy, viz., Breakker and Reed, along with their leader, annihilated the former Bloodline boss. While Reigns wasn’t on the show last night, he’s advertised for the next couple of Raw tapings in Philadelphia on August 18 and Birmingham on August 25.

Moreover, he’s made the cover for Clash in Paris, suggesting he’s bound to compete on the show. But who would he face? The most plausible option at the moment is no one but Bronson Reed, who has stolen two pairs of Reigns’ shoes in recent weeks. It could also be Breakker, but WWE sees it as too grand of a showdown to book it on a non-Big Four PLE. Likewise, an inevitable Reigns vs. Rollins bout is being saved for somewhere down the road.
In hindsight, Seth Rollins‘ recent injury fakeout will go down as one of the most iconic ruses ever. The sheer commitment to pull it off as believable as it looked is nothing less than commendable. A prime example of Rollins putting his heart and soul into making it work is having a serious conversation with Nikki Bella about how badly he was hurt.
She revealed an anecdote from the Evolution 2 PLE on The Nikki & Brie Show. The former Divas Champion said Rollins fooled everyone. He even had a 30-minute-long chat with Bella about the severity of his hypothetical injury with such conviction that it made ‘The Fearless One’ feel sad for him.

She called Rollins a liar in front of Becky Lynch on Raw last Monday. It ruffled the women’s IC Champion so intensely that she decided to take a dig at Bella’s failed relationship with John Cena. ‘The Man’ and ‘The Beautiful Bomber’ appear to be on a collision course with Clash in Paris, a likely destination.
