Matt and Jeff Hardy have been around professional wrestling for the best part of 25 years. They've been present in the journey of millions of wrestling fans, and are widely viewed as one of the best tag teams in history.
In recent years, the Hardys have spent time with AEW and TNA, where they're currently signed until later this year. During Tuesday's episode of NXT, the Hardys made their first appearance on WWE TV in multiple years. They answered a challenge from Tavion Heights and Myles Borne.
The match will take place next week, marking a return for the aging tag team, at the company where everything started for them. Neither Matt nor Jeff are signed to WWE. It's also unlikely their presence will become a consistent theme, either on NXT or any of the major brands.
However, using WWE's partnership with TNA to bring back two legends for the occasional spot match is smart. The Hardys deserve another run on WWE programming, regardless of how sporadic those chances will be. And the WWE fan base will undoubtedly welcome back one of the primary tag teams from the Attitude and Ruthless Aggression eras.
Two men who have re-defined tag-team wrestling for over 25 years. The Hardy Boyz have reached the pinnacle of our industry (and often jumped off of it) to the amazement of fans worldwide…

NXT is WWE's developmental brand. Allowing Matt and Jeff to wrestle on the promotion will undoubtedly aid the development of multiple young talents, especially those who get in the ring with the veteran duo.
WWE is making the most of its partnership with TNA, and bringing back the Hardys is just another example of how the deal suits Paul Levesque and Shawn Michaels. Still, fans will be excited to see the Hardys back in action, and the fact that it's impossible to tell if it will happen again should draw significant viewership numbers. NXT will be a can't-miss.
