  • Tiffany Stratton pulled from NXT Homecoming after likely concussion from a botched moonsault on SmackDown.
  • Lyra Valkyria replaces Stratton in Six-Woman Tag alongside Rhea Ripley and Stephanie Vaquer.
  • Homecoming returns to Full Sail; card includes Flair/Bliss, Hayes & Williams vs Gargano/Ciampa, Breeze vs Page.

Plans have changed for tonight’s (September 16) NXT special, Homecoming. It was first announced on Monday by NXT General Manager Ava that WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton wouldn't be part of the event due to not being medically cleared. Stratton was originally going to team with Rhea Ripley and Stephanie Vaquer to face Fatal Influence’s Fallon Henley, WWE NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne, and Jazmyn Nyx.

Tiffany Stratton Out Of Homecoming Due To SmackDown Incident

Bryan Alvarez on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio explained in detail what likely happened to the WWE champion —a concussion from a botched moonsault off the ring post. Stratton had "smashed her head on the ground.” This was during her title match against Jade Cargill on the September 12 episode of Friday Night SmackDown. Alvarez said:

“Tiffany (Stratton) apparently did not get cleared after SmackDown. And the most likely spot was a Moonsault off the post in the championship match with Jade Cargill, where she smashed her head on the ground. And this was right before the finish, and they both got counted out. And then you could see the referee was talking to her. And then Nia (Jax) was scheduled to do a run-in and attack both of them. And if you watch it, man, she barely touched Tiffany. She did the lightest Annihilator of her entire career, was clearly trying to protect her, but she did not get cleared, and so she's out of the match (at NXT Homecoming) and Lyra (Valkyria) is in.” (h/t: WrestlePurists)

It’s unclear how long Stratton will be out of action.

The NXT Homecoming Card

This special marks NXT coming home to Full Sail University — a place where the developmental brand held its shows between 2012 and 2016. The last NXT event to take place at the Winter Park, Florida, location was the NXT TakeOver: The End PLE on June 8, 2016.

So with Tiffany out, it’s now going to be Rhea Ripley, Stephanie Vaquer, and Lyra Valkyria versus Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley, and Jazmyn Nyx in a Six-Woman Tag Team Match. The WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss will be defending their titles against Tatum Paxley and Izzi Dame.

Frienemies Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes have reunited to face DIY’s Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa. The Grayson Waller Effect is coming back, and the guests are NXT Champion Oba Femi and his future opponent, Ricky Saints.

A real blast from the past, fans will see Tyler Breeze return to the NXT ring and face Ethan Page. Page will be defending his NXT North American Championship against Breeze. NXT Homecoming will be airing on the CW at 8 p.m. ET. So just like every Tuesday, though, this might be a show not to be missed, especially for those nostalgic for the black and gold days of NXT.
