WWE Superstar Jey Uso is reportedly in concussion protocol following an injury suffered during his tag team match at WWE’s Wrestlepalooza debut on ESPN Saturday night. Uso is said to be OK, and the concussion protocol decision is typical of this kind of injury, but the moment was still scary considering Jey seemed to be in serious distress as he wrestled a tag match with his brother Jimmy against Bron Breakker and Big Bronson Reed.

The incident occurred during The Usos’ match against The Vision’s Breakker and Reed, with LA Knight serving as special guest referee. According to Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Uso injured himself while hitting Breakker with a steel chair. The incident was so quick it was almost unnoticeable on camera, but the shot to Jey's own face did damage and he was immediately busted open and bleeding. Many believed the match was stopped short as a result.
“Jey busted himself open. He hit Bron with the chair, and it bounced off Bron’s back and split him six ways from Sunday. He’s in concussion protocol, which is a requirement after any injury like this,” Alvarez reported.
Despite the injury, the match continued for a few more minutes, with Breakker spearing both Usos through a table before Reed delivered his signature “Tsunami” splash on Jey for the decisive pinfall.
While WWE has not released an official statement on the injury, Alvarez noted that concussion protocol is more of a safety concern and precautionary move than an indication that Jey is in rough shape. Jey later attempted to reassure fans, noting that he was “good” after videos of Jimmy tending to his brother seemed to indicate pause for legitimate concern.
Jey Uso’s status for upcoming shows remains uncertain until further developments are revealed. There is no timeline for his return, but the early speculation is that it's not going to be a significant issue.
Social media quickly lit up with messages wishing him a speedy recovery, with some fans being less than respectful by saying Jey should have been more careful so as not to injure himself. Needless to say, this was a freak accident that no one could have expected. It was certainly not Jey's fault.
