Former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon was involved in a car accident last Thursday, July 24. TMZ Sports reports that the accident occurred around 9 a.m. in Westport, Connecticut. He was said to have been traveling northbound on Merritt Parkway (Route 15) — one of the oldest parkways in the U.S., and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places — when the incident happened.
As per the crash report that was obtained by TMZ, McMahon was at fault for the crash. His 2024 Bentley Continental GT Speed reportedly rammed into the back of a BMW 430 and collided with a wooden median guardrail. The force of the impact was so severe that airbags were deployed on both the Bentley and the BMW. A third car, a Ford Fusion, was also involved in the crash after it ran into debris from the collision.
All three cars had to be towed from the scene, and McMahon’s Bentley was said to be “mangled.” Luckily, there were no reported injuries, and all the drivers were wearing their seatbelts. There were no passengers involved. McMahon was issued a “misdemeanor summons for reckless driving and following too closely resulting in an accident.” According to the Toronto Star, the former WWE CEO was released on a $500 bond and is set to appear in Stamford Superior Court on August 26.
The car accident happened on the same day as Hulk Hogan passed away at the age of 71 from cardiac arrest. The former WWE Chairman has mostly been silent on social media since the Janel Grant lawsuit, where he has been accused of sexual assault, but he did break his silence to share a tribute to the late WWE Hall of Famer.
In his tribute, McMahon called Hogan the “greatest WWE Superstar of all time," a "trailblazer," and commended him on his work ethic. Vince wasn't the only one from the McMahon family to send out tributes. His wife and the current United States Secretary of Education, Linda McMahon, called him "a dear friend" that she got to know and work with for over 40 years, and Shane thanked Hogan for everything he did for both the McMahon and WWE families.
