Karrion Kross left the WWE earlier this year. His contract had been allowed to run down, and the company made him a take-it-or-leave-it offer just a few days before he became a free agent. There was no extension for Scarlett as part of the deal.
Therefore, Kross and the WWE were unable to reach an agreement on a new contract, and talks ultimately fizzled out. As a popular member of WWE's roster, the fan base has long speculated about his departure and the reasons behind it.
In a recent episode of Sportskeeda's "Writing with Russo," Vince Russo, a former writer for WWE, shared a bold claim as to why Kross was allowed to leave the company.
"I don't think there was any disconnect whatsoever," Russo said. "I think Triple H looked at this guy and knew he was better than he ever was. We can't have that. That's what I'm telling you, bro. There is no question in my mind. There's nobody who can look at this guy and his wife and not equate it to money, unless there's an ulterior motive. That's the only way. I'll be honest with you."
Russo's comments are nothing but his opinion. Nevertheless, as fans continue to search for answers regarding a fan-favorite being allowed to leave without a huge push to keep him, more of these galaxy-brain ideas are bound to arise.
Since leaving the WWE, Kross has returned to the independent scene, where he has been working with Game Changer Wrestling (GCW) under the name "Killer Kross." He will undoubtedly receive offers from other companies within the industry as well. However, at this point, AEW has not been linked with having interest in him and Scarlett.
Of course, if Kross continues to impress on the indie scene, AEW or TNA could become a logical landing spot for the duo. He and Scarlett already bring a built-in fanbase to the equation. Yet, for now, it makes sense to remain with GCW and follow a similar route to Matt Cardona, who has become a star despite not being associated with a major brand.
After all, social media will ensure he's still on the minds of wrestling fans, and if he's putting on good shows, people will find ways to tune in and watch him work.
