Will Ospreay wants WWE champion star to jump ship, join AEW

Will Ospreay is rapidly rising as the face of AEW.

He has been a smash hit since joining from New Japan Pro Wrestling. Ospreay will face Roderick Strong for the continental championship at Double or Nothing on Sunday.

AEW has made many high-caliber free-agent signings over the last 18 months. Kazuchika Okada, Mercedes Mone, Adam Copeland, Ospreay and Jay White are new faces joining the company.

Ospreay believes that WWE Speed champion Ricochet should be the next big name to join Tony Khan's rapidly growing promotion.

"I don't know how much longer he has got in his contract, but I think it might be up soon, man, I don't know," Ospreay told ComicBook.com. "I want him to know that there are people here that genuinely appreciate his work and I want to wrestle him again. I want him back here."

Ospreay has had some legendary matches with Ricochet. Yet, their careers took different paths when Ricochet signed with WWE. Ospreay rose to the top of NJPW and is now with AEW. Ricochet has been stuck as a mid-card performer in WWE and has recently been consigned to speed matches with a three-minute time limit.

"The fact that they only value his time for under five minutes is appalling to me," Ospreay said. "I just want people to remember who he is. If you go and look at 2012-2013 Dragon Gate Ricochet, he was untouchable at the time. When it came to this generation of high-flyers, he was the greatest. He's the greatest high-flyer ever. I know it sounds weird, but I do include put him on the same level as Rey Mysterio."

WWE will likely want to retain Ricochet when his contract expires, as he has proven to be a versatile and dependable performer. However, if Ricochet aims to revitalize his career and deliver outstanding matches that captivate audiences and showcase his true abilities, AEW could be the perfect destination.

AEW provides a valuable alternative for talent seeking new opportunities. Ricochet might find more chances for high-profile matches outside of WWE. While he isn't guaranteed championship opportunities in either promotion due to the depth of top-tier talent and crowded rosters, AEW would allow him to wrestle with the passion and style that initially made him a standout. For Ricochet, this opportunity to compete at a high level might be just what he needs.
