WWE has been through a lot since the last time AJ Lee was on television back in 2015. At that time, she was one of the women spearheading the WWE Diva Revolution, but would not be there as the women were getting more and more opportunities. She has officially returned to the company for the first time in a decade, so let’s discuss AJ Lee’s return and what it means going forward.

AJ Lee Returns to WWE

AJ Lee would make her return to WWE in a segment to close out WWE SmackDown this week. The segment saw Seth Rollins in a private box inside the United Center in Chicago, the hometown of his rival CM Punk. Rollins would introduce his wife, Becky Lynch, and she would cut a promo before CM Punk interrupted and went to the ring.

He said he would not hit a woman, but knew someone who would. He continued to list some WWE superstars like Bayley and Rhea Ripley before saying he had someone in mind. His wife AJ Lee would come down to the ring in her iconic jean shorts and skip to the ring before attacking Lynch and not saying a single word.

AJ Lee would officially retire from in-ring competition on April 3, 2015, and in her memoir, she would reveal she had permanent damage to her cervical spine. That is not to mention being caught in the middle of the firing of her husband CM Punk and WWE back in 2014 as well. She would step away from wrestling for six years before joining WOW (Women of Wrestling) as an executive producer and providing color commentary on the weekly syndicated show. She also would appear in the show “Heels” as well, which is about wrestling.

With AJ Lee back in WWE, the expectation is that the former three-time Divas Champion will be teaming with her husband at WWE Wrestlepalooza to go against Seth Rollins and WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch. It will be interesting to see how she looks in her return to the company and how long she will be part of the company.
