Chad Gable is sticking with WWE. The former Olympian and leader of the Alpha Academy has re-signed with the company despite reported interest from AEW, among others. He confirmed his contractual status during an appearance on the "Gorilla Position" podcast.
"Yes, I have," Gable said regarding re-signing. "What I'll say, regarding Hunter [Triple H]. When he got started with us and took over. I think you saw my trajectory change almost immediately...The fact that he delivers on what he says, it has gone a long way with someone like me. Now, that's paying off and I'm having the run of my life and I'm having a blast."
Gable is currently involved in a storyline centered around the Intercontinental Championship. He lost his match against Sami Zayn at "Clash at the Castle" on Saturday and will likely pivot into the second part of the story in the upcoming weeks. Gable is set to break away from Otis and the Alpha Academy, as WWE has been pushing him to become a singles star this year.
By securing his long-term future, WWE has overcome the allure of AEW. Gable is a growing draw among the fan base. His matches are getting better each week. His work on the microphone has steadily improved since his heel turn. He will likely continue contending for titles in the near future and could potentially find himself owning one of the mid-card belts before the end of the year.
WWE has been losing some of its talent to AEW in recent months. Ricochet could be the latest to jump between the two promotions. Still, Gable is a star of the future. WWE can continue building him up and putting him in a position to succeed. Re-signing him was good for both parties. It will be interesting to see how far they can push him in the coming years and whether he can prove himself to be a championship-caliber talent.
