2017 NFL Mock Draft, Dec. 29 edition

2017 NFL Mock Draft as of December 29, 2016.

1 of 32

1. Cleveland Browns: Myles Garrett, DE, Texas A&M

Cleveland Browns: Myles Garrett, DE, Texas A&M
Kevin Jairaj / USA Today Sports Images

The rebuilding Browns are still far away, so look for them to take the best player on the board rather than a position of need, especially since they have another first-round pick. Garrett will likely fulfill that criteria as the top pass rusher.

2. San Francisco 49ers: Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson

San Francisco 49ers: Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson
Jasen Vinlove / USA Today Sports Images

The 49ers are desperate for a new quarterback, especially with Chip Kelly at the helm. Watson has the athleticism that can excel in Kelly's system, and he certainly knows how to win.

3 of 32

3. Chicago Bears: Mitch Trubisky, QB, North Carolina

Chicago Bears: Mitch Trubisky, QB, North Carolina
James Guillory / USA Today Sports Images

Jay Cutler's days in Chicago look to be numbered, and it's obvious the Bears are going to address quarterback this offseason somehow. Trubisky is a good option, as his stock has climbed all season with 28/4 TD/INT during the regular season.

4 of 32

4. Jacksonville Jaguars: Jabrill Peppers, DB, Michigan

Jacksonville Jaguars: Jabrill Peppers, DB, Michigan
Reese Strickland / USA Today Sports Images

Peppers is a pure playmaker and could make a developing Jags secondary outstanding immediately. Jacksonville could also look at a quarterback here if it decides to pull the plug on former first-round pick Blake Bortles.

5 of 32

5. Tennessee Titans: Jonathan Allen, DE, Alabama

Tennessee Titans: Jonathan Allen, DE, Alabama
John David Mercer / USA Today Sports Images

Allen could go first overall, so if he falls this far, the Titans would certainly pull the trigger. Tennessee's plan to create a power running game has been realized this season, so the Titans are likely to take a defensive player if they don't see a wideout that they love.

6 of 32

6. New York Jets: Tim Williams, OLB, Alabama

New York Jets: Tim Williams, OLB, Alabama
Marvin Gentry / USA Today Sports Images

The Jets have plenty of defensive talent, but they've leaked behind the defensive line. Without a viable quarterback at this spot, Williams is a possibility as an elite pass rusher.

7 of 32

7. San Diego Chargers: Mike Williams, WR, Clemson

San Diego Chargers: Mike Williams, WR, Clemson
Kim Klement / USA Today Sports Images

The Chargers continue to have trouble finding weapons for Philip Rivers. Keenan Allen suffered a season-ending injury in Week 1, and they probably can't count on him going forward. Williams shows huge ability after catching 84 passes for 1,171 yards and 10 scores during the regular season.

8 of 32

8. Cincinnati Bengals: Marlon Humphrey, CB, Alabama

Cincinnati Bengals: Marlon Humphrey, CB, Alabama
Nelson Chenault / USA Today Sports Images

The Bengals have a rare opportunity with a high draft choice. With Adam Jones nearing retirement, cornerback is an area they will need to address. Humphrey has the ability to play immediately.

9 of 32

9. Carolina Panthers: Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU

Carolina Panthers: Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU
Brett Rojo / USA Today Sports Images

It's obvious Carolina will address running back in one of the deepest running back drafts ever after Jonathan Stewart averaged less than four yards per carry through Week 16. Fournette fought through an ankle issue this season but still has game-changing ability.

10 of 32

10. Cleveland Browns: Cam Robinson, OT, Alabama

Cleveland Browns: Cam Robinson, OT, Alabama
Jerome Miron / USA Today Sports Images

If the Browns are going to add a quarterback, it's imperative that they address their awful offensive line issues. Joe Thomas is a stalwart at left tackle, and Robinson has the ability to lock down the other side.

11 of 32

11. Arizona Cardinals: Marshon Lattimore, CB, Ohio State

Arizona Cardinals: Marshon Lattimore, CB, Ohio State
Greg Bartram / USA Today Sports Images

While Marcus Cooper has done his best, he hasn't been a great option opposite Patrick Peterson for the Cardinals this season. Lattimore has the ability to upgrade the Arizona secondary immediately as the Cardinals attempt to rebound from a subpar season.

12 of 32

12. Buffalo Bills: Teez Tabor, CB, Florida

Buffalo Bills: Teez Tabor, CB, Florida
Kim Klement / USA Today Sports Images

Buffalo is moving on to yet another heading coach. The defense has significant talent, but adding even more depth to the strong top two cornerbacks could help the offense. The Bills could be in the market for offensive line help as well.

13 of 32

13. Indianapolis Colts: Ryan Ramczyk, OT, Wisconsin

Indianapolis Colts: Ryan Ramczyk, OT, Wisconsin
Mark Hoffman / USA Today Sports Images

The Colts should have addressed their offensive tackle spots yesterday, but better late than never. In a draft thin on top offensive line talent, Ramczyk could go even earlier.

14 of 32

14. New Orleans Saints: Takkarist McKinley, DE, UCLA

New Orleans Saints: Takkarist McKinley, DE, UCLA
Ron Chenoy / USA Today Sports Images

It's almost obvious the Saints will address their defense in the first round unless than they can find a long-term replacement for Drew Brees. McKinley has big-time pass rush ability with 10 sacks during the regular season.

15 of 32

15. Philadelphia Eagles: Dalvin Cook, RB, Florida State

Philadelphia Eagles: Dalvin Cook, RB, Florida State
Melina Vastola / USA Today Sports Images

While the Eagles are fond of 2016 draftee Wendell Smallwood, he's probably not a bell-cow back. The same can't be said for Cook, who put together consecutive 1,600-yard seasons for the Seminoles.

16 of 32

16. Tennessee Titans: JuJu Smith-Schuster, WR, USC

Tennessee Titans: JuJu Smith-Schuster, WR, USC
Joe Camporeale / USA Today Sports Images

The Titans should have the opportunity to add more weapons for Marcus Mariota, and Smith-Schuster has the ability to be a major playmaker. He scored nine times for the Trojans during the regular season.

17 of 32

17. Baltimore Ravens: Ryan Anderson, OLB, Alabama

Baltimore Ravens: Ryan Anderson, OLB, Alabama
Marvin Gentry / USA Today Sports Images

The Ravens have to start thinking about a replacement for Terrell Suggs, who is nearing the end of his career going on age 35. Anderson has 7.5 sacks and could develop into Suggs' replacement.

18 of 32

18. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Charles Harris, DE, Missouri

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Charles Harris, DE, Missouri
Kim Klement / USA Today Sports Images

Harris had a bad season with the new defensive scheme at Mizzou, but he remains a top pass-rushing prospect. He'd be a major threat for a defense that already ranks 11th in sacks.

19 of 32

19. Denver Broncos: Caleb Brantley, DT, Florida

Denver Broncos: Caleb Brantley, DT, Florida
Kim Klement / USA Today Sports Images

Stopping the run has been an issue for the Broncos this season after losing Malik Jackson in free agency. Brantley has the ability to improve Denver's interior as the defense tries to get back to its 2015 level.

20 of 32

20. Washington Redskins: Reuben Foster, ILB, Alabama

Washington Redskins: Reuben Foster, ILB, Alabama
Marvin Gentry / USA Today Sports Images

Foster falling this far could be wishful thinking for Washington, but it'd almost certainly scoop him up if it happens. The team has had trouble stopping the run all year, ranking eighth worst in the NFL. Will Compton hasn't been a liability, but the team could still improve at inside linebacker.

21 of 32

21. Detroit Lions: Jamal Adams, S, LSU

Detroit Lions: Jamal Adams, S, LSU
Derick E. Hingle / USA Today Sports Images

If Adams elects to leave college, his stock could be much higher than No. 21 overall. However, safeties can drop in the draft, as we saw in 2016. Adams is a big-time playmaker who certainly has the ability to help a defense that's averaged 7.5 yards per pass attempt.

22 of 32

22. Miami Dolphins: Raekwon McMillan, ILB, Ohio State

Miami Dolphins: Raekwon McMillan, ILB, Ohio State
Joseph Malorana / USA Today Sports Images

Head coach Adam Gase has greatly changed the outlook for the Dolphins this season, but they still need to address a rushing defense that allowed the third most yards in the league through Week 16. Reuben Foster would be a great fit if the Dolphins can muster the package to trade up for him, but McMillan could be the next best option.

23 of 32

23. New York Giants: D'Onta Foreman, RB, Texas

New York Giants: D'Onta Foreman, RB, Texas
Brendan Maloney / USA Today Sports Images

If the Giants are finally going to address running back, this would be the draft to do it. Thev're averaged an awful 3.5 yards per carry this season through 15 games, while Foreman could be a game changer with more than 2,000 rushing yards this season.

24 of 32

24. Kansas City Chiefs: Christian McCaffrey, RB, Stanford

Kansas City Chiefs: Christian McCaffrey, RB, Stanford
Kyle Terada / USA Today Sports Images

The Chiefs have done an incredible job picking up players off the scrap heap like starting running back Spencer Ware and cornerback Terrance Mitchell. However, they've seriously lacked big-play ability in the running game without Jamaal Charles, in spite of a few huge runs from 2016 draftee Tyreek Hill late in the year. If the Chiefs decide to move on without Charles, McCaffrey would be an excellent fit as a third-down back who can eventually step up as a bell cow.

25 of 32

25. Houston Texans: DeShone Kizer, QB, Notre Dame

Houston Texans: DeShone Kizer, QB, Notre Dame
Kirby Lee / USA Today Sports Images

Sadly, it looks like the Texans will have to address quarterback again this offseason after Brock Osweiler's failure as the starter. Kizer is an athletic project but has the tools to be an NFL starter. Taking him in the first round could be a reach but so was signing Osweiler to a mammoth contract last offseason.

26 of 32

26. Green Bay Packers: Derek Barnett, DE, Tennessee

Green Bay Packers: Derek Barnett, DE, Tennessee
Jerome Miron / USA Today Sports Images

Green Bay's defense improved late in the season during its run, but there are still major issues. The team's pass rush has fared well, but Julius Peppers is one of the oldest players in football and Clay Matthews also struggled again as a pass rusher. Barnett is an elite pass rusher and a great fit.

27 of 32

27. Seattle Seahawks: Roderick Johnson, OT, Florida State

Seattle Seahawks: Roderick Johnson, OT, Florida State
Rob Kinnan / USA Today Sports Images

The Seahawks should be desperate for offensive line help this offseason after another rough year protecting Russell Wilson. Johnson is a high-upside option in a relatively thin draft for offensive linemen at the top.

28 of 32

28. Pittsburgh Steelers: Carl Lawson, OLB, Auburn

With James Harrison potentially retiring this offseason, the Steelers have a major need for a pass rusher. Lawson has the potential to help after recording nine sacks during the regular season.

29 of 32

29. Atlanta Falcons: Jourdan Lewis, CB, Michigan

Atlanta Falcons: Jourdan Lewis, CB, Michigan
Reese Strickland / USA Today Sports Images

Atlanta is set on offense and fast improving a defense that really fell off at the end of the Mike Smith era. Lewis has the ability to help the secondary immediately, which allowed a 65 percent completion rate, seventh worst through 15 games.

30 of 32

30. Oakland Raiders: Zach Cunningham, LB, Vanderbilt

Oakland Raiders: Zach Cunningham, LB, Vanderbilt
Dale Zanine / USA Today Sports Images

A proven tackling machine at Vandy, Cunningham should have the ability to help immediately. That's a need in Oakland, for a change, after making the playoffs in 2016.

31 of 32

31. New England Patriots: Bucky Hodges, TE, Virginia Tech

Peter Casey / USA Today Sports Images

The injuries continue to pile up for Rob Gronkowski, and the athletic Hodges would represent a huge value for the Pats at the end of the first round as a productive pass catcher over three seasons. We don't see many three tight end sets in the NFL, but the Pats coaching staff would certainly find a way to use them.

32 of 32

32. Dallas Cowboys: Solomon Thomas, DE, Stanford

Dallas Cowboys: Solomon Thomas, DE, Stanford
Kyle Terada / USA Today Sports Images

The Cowboys have survived with a makeshift pass rush this season, but no Dallas player has more than six sacks through 15 games. Thomas could be the type of pass rusher they can count on.
