MOTOR SPORTS RUMORS & GOSSIP
Drivers Memo Gidley and Matteo Matucelli were hospitalized after a frightening high-speed, rear-end crash during the Tudor United SportsCar Championship’s Rolex 24 Hours at the Daytona International Speedway. Three hours into the race, Gidley’s Corvette rear-ended Matucelli’s slow-moving Ferrari in the infield, just before the kink turn in the track.
Chip Ganassi Racing typically goes into the Rolex 24 at Daytona every year as the heavy favorite.
Not this weekend.
Ganassi switched to Ford during the offseason, and a variety of issues have raised questions about the competitiveness of their two-car entry.
A rule change ordered by IMSA cost Ford valuable horsepower and drivers have complained they are down as much as 5 mph on...

Travis Pastrana has been dealing with ankle trouble for a while now. In this Red Bull video, he decides to man up and get back on his bike.
There’s not a better way to do it than by hitting Jeremy McGrath’s track, ‘The Thing’ Ranch.
Check him out with Robbie Maddison, Adam Cianciarulo, Nate Adams, and of course McGrath.

Danish driver Allan Simonsen, 34, died following a crash at the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race. He is the first driver to lose his life during the race since 1986.
NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Jeremy Clements did just about the dumbest thing you could do… just when NASCAR was trying to introduce a new audience to the sport, Mr. Clements does his best to send them back to Civil War era.
MTV reporter Marty Beckerman was speaking Clements and a NASCAR official, when Clements used ‘a phrase that used the n-word’ in a conversation about...
Check out the video. French stunt driver Guerlain Chicherit became the first person to perform a 360-degree backflip in a car. Chicherit drove his Mini toward the 25-foot high ramp at precisely 37 mph. He soared 75 feet into the air, flipped the car backwards and landed rear wheels first on the other side of a snow ramp at the French ski resort of Tignes in the Alps.
One of the most photogenic sporting events in the world.
Rosalee Ramer is much like every other 15-year-old girl in Watsonville, Calif., except for one thing — she spends her free time “flying 10,000 pounds of truck through 30 feet of air.” That’s right — Ramer drives monster trucks. The sophomore at Pacific Collegiate School (who also plays the piano of all things) pilots Detour — a souped up 2010 Ford Ranger which she and...
Trevor Bayne tests the 2013 Sprint Cup car for The Wood Brothers at Kansas Speedway.Greg Biffle just has a knack for getting around Kansas Speedway. The #16 driver topped the speed charts as teams tested the new asphalt and graduated banking at Kansas. Biffle circled the new surface with a best lap time of 29.205, 184.900 mph. He was followed on the scoring pylon by Mark Martin,...
Jeff Gordon was a huge surprise at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday night.
He qualified 13th, and he and his Hendrick Motorsports team seemed fairly happy with their car in the two practices Saturday at the track.
Then in the race, he really searched and struggled most of the night. He ended up with an 18th-place finish. That kind of just wiped out, points-wise, those three...
Dale Earnhardt Jr. didn't want to climb out of the No. 88 car this weekend -- or any weekend.
Finally, the pieces had come together. In his fifth season at Hendrick Motorsports, Earnhardt had blossomed under the direction of crew chief Steve Letarte. Earnhardt had led the point standings for the first time in eight years. After a four-season drought, he returned to Victory Lane...
