Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Alex Cobb was released from the hospital on Sunday, one day after he was hit in the head by a line drive off the bat of Kansas City Royals Eric Hosmer. Cobb only suffered a mild concussion from the hit. The Rays announced during their game that Cobb was released and placed on the seven day concussion list, although there is no timetable for his return. Cobb posted the following message on his Twitter account thanking head athletic trainer Ron Porterfield and the doctors at Bayfront Medical Center. Woke up with only a minor headache today. — Alex Cobb (@Acobb53) June 16, 2013 Cobb was struck by a liner off the bat of Kansas City’s Hosmer in the fifth inning of Saturday’s game but remained conscious the whole time.
