Fox Sports Kansas City:
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Best idea at Kansas State since the hiring of Bill Snyder in 1988?
Well ... OK, we won't go that far. But baby, it's close.
In case you haven't heard by now, the Wildcats' women's basketball program -- perennially one of the best in the Big 12 -- is doubling down on the awesome for its home-opener Friday against Tennessee State.
And they're doing it with two words: Free. Bacon.
That's right, kids: K-State students who hit Bramlage Coliseum for the opener starting at 4:45 p.m. will receive a free boat of bacon.
Not a real boat, mind you.
But enough to fill a small paper container. Which is still pretty stinking cool.
The announcement was made official via Twitter on Tuesday; concessionaire Sodexo, so the story goes, has committed to cooking 300 pounds of bacon that will be served an hour before tip-off.

BEST OF MAXIM
Sure, students love to get free t-shirts, but schools can do better than that. This week, Kansas State is trying an awesome new ploy to get students to attend the women’s basketball opener vs. Tennessee State:

The college basketball season is right around the corner (yes, it's here already). For the Kansas State women's team the action kicks off at 6:45 PM ET against Tennessee State. Just to make sure there are bodies in the seats the athletic department is running what could arguably be the best promotion ever.
Ever the curious fat...
There’s nothing better than free food, right?
Well, that’s what people will get if they attend the Kansas State women’s basketball game against Tennessee State on Friday. Students who arrive early enough will be treated to free bacon.

Assuming that you don’t attend a college with a legendary women’s basketball program, like UConn or Tennessee, you’re probably familiar with the great pains that most programs deal with when it comes to putting asses in seats. Promotional budgets for any college sports that don’t rhyme with pootball or pen’s pasketball are seemingly typically limited to pennies, and in...
MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) It sometimes resembles musical chairs, the way Kansas State coach Bill Snyder has begun to use contrasting quarterbacks Jake Waters and Daniel Sams.
Waters heads onto the field for the first series. Sams replaces him. Waters goes back out when the Wildcats need a spark. Sams does the same thing.
It's the kind of substitution pattern that happens regularly...
Sometimes you have to be creative to put butts in seats. It looks like the Kansas State Women’s Basketball team is doing just that. They will be giving away a “boat of bacon” to each student that attends the game this Friday. With student ID of course:
