Atlanta Braves right-handed reliever Jordan Walden was able to complete a successful bullpen session yesterday, experiencing no discomfort in his groin. As a result, Fredi Gonzalez told Mark Bowman of that Walden could be ready to rejoin the Braves' bullpen as soon as tomorrow. Jordan's groin, which has kept him sidelined for the last three weeks, didn't give him any issues during yesterday's 27-pitch bullpen session. Assuming he doesn't face another setback or an inordinate amount of soreness, Gonzalez said the late-inning arm could be available out of the 'pen Thursday for the team's finale against the Miami Marlins. Walden told reporters that this is the best his arm has felt this late into a season in a long time. The right-hander has been extremely effective for Atlanta this season, and his brief hiatus due to a non arm-related ailment could actually prove beneficial in the long run. "This is the best my arm has felt this late in the season my whole big league career," Walden said. "I'm just waiting to see what I can do on the mound." Walden has been huge for the Braves considering the absences of Eric O'Flaherty and Jonny Venters. While he's not left-handed, Walden has proven a capable setup man for closer Craig Kimbrel. He's a large part of the team's league-leading bullpen ERA (2.33), entering last night's game. Follow @mlbinjurynews Looking for fantasy baseball advice?

Uggla deals with another night on the bench

Dan Uggla was not shocked when he returned to Marlins Park on Wednesday afternoon and learned that he was out of Atlanta's starting lineup for a third consecutive day. The veteran second baseman gained a sense this might happen after he met with Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez on Monday afternoon. "It's his ballclub and I respect the decision that he made" Uggla...

PHOTO: Braves teammates hold an online 'ab-off'

So, for some reason or another, Atlanta Braves teammates Dan Uggla and Gerald Laird decided to have an “Ab-Off” on Monday. Of course, for an “Ab-Off” to be officially sanctioned by the governing body that oversees the PAOA (Professional Ab-Off Association), the competitors must present their abs to the PAOA Board of Governors. If that […]The post ‘Ab-Off’ between teammates...

Braves' Jason Heyward to take batting practice Friday

As much as the moment will be downplayed, Jason Heyward taking batting practice will be a big first step in his return from the frightening jaw fracture he suffered.  Heyward is scheduled to take normal batting practice with the Atlanta Braves on Friday, then the team will evaluate where he goes from there. Mark Bowman of says it's too early to tell when Heyward...

Three Cuts: Braves trip Marlins; magic number at 7

Here are three things we learned from the Braves' 4-3 win over the Marlins, aside from how Freddie Freeman and Evan Gattis (two RBI, three runs, four hits) look pretty good as a 3-4 combo in the lineup. 1. In two weeks, Luis Ayala not Craig Kimbrel or Jordan Walden might get credit for the bullpen's seminal moment of the season OK, so the majority of Marlins-Braves tilts...

A Replacement-Level Andrelton Simmons

Braves hold off Marlins 4-3 after a late-game chase

For a team that’s had to reinvent itself time and time again this season the Braves’ offense has found recent solace in the capable — and bare — hands of Evan Gattis. The difference in the first two games of the series against the Marlins and the better part of the time since he returned from Triple-A Gwinnett is the Braves put runners on base for him. Gattis revved up...

Jose Fernandez Hits First Homer Which Leads To The Benches Clearing

It appears that Miami Marlins ace Jose Fernandez will not be receiving a Christmas card from Chris Johnson or any of his Atlanta Braves teammates this holiday season. The two had words which boiled over after Fernandez star gazed at his first major league shot. The youngster may have also spat on third base as he trotted past Johnson which rubbed Braves catcher Brian McCann the wrong...

Chris Johnson Doesn't Appreciate Those Who Watch Homeruns

((HT: MLB/FSFlorida)) This was one of those incidents that had a lot of things wrong with it... And, mostly, it was because of how entirely young the Miami Marlins are... It all starts with a home run... by a pitcher... Here's what went down... Your browser does not support iframes. So, did Fernandez cause the furor by staring...? Yes... Was it immature...?...

Things started in the top of the sixth when Johnson laced a 97-mph fastball from […]

Braves claim series victory vs. Marlins

For a trip that started with a match-up between Mike Minor and Cliff Lee Thursday’s Freddy Garcia vs. Brian Flynn pairing lacked a little luster. But it served the Braves’ purposes just fine. The Braves unleashed six runs – including two on Freddie Freeman’s 20th home run - on Marlins September call-up Flynn on their way to a 6-1 win to claim the series 3-1. The Braves finished...
