Former Reds pitcher Bronson Arroyo sounded off to ESPN’s Jayson Stark about the lack of big league offers he’s received this offseason.
“I don’t even have an offer to turn down,” Arroyo told Stark. “So I might still be sitting here on March 1. I have no idea.”
Stark said the Reds still love him but are moving forward without Arroyo. Reds GM Walt Jocketty said they talked with him during the Winter Meetings.
“We wanted to let some time pass, he wanted to check the market and stuff, we told him we wanted to meet with him again and see where they’re at and see if we can still do something,” Jocketty said of Arroyo during the Winter Meetings. “I don’t know if we’ll do anything, but we wanted to at least meet with him because he’s been with us for so long and he’s been such a big part of our success that we thought it was important at least to talk to him again before anything happened.”
