The Browns hope quarterback Brandon Weeden attacks the Baltimore Ravens Sunday with the type of ferocity he displayed today while ripping Sports Illustrated’s in-depth report about his alma mater Oklahoma State University and one of the magazine’s writers. The report alleges that from 2001-2011 some Oklahoma State players were paid for their performance on the field as part of a bonus system orchestrated by assistant coaches and boosters engaged in academic misconduct by having others do their coursework and were allowed to use recreational drugs without penalties. According to Sports Illustrated the series written by George Dohrmann and Thayer Evans is a result of a 10-month investigation that included independent interviews with 64 Oklahoma State football players from 1999 to 2011. Weeden was at Oklahoma State from 2007-11 before the Browns drafted him 22nd overall last year. He was not named in either of the first two parts of the series both of which have been published online...

What do you make of Brandon Weeden? – Cleveland Browns Roundtable

Craig: The takeaways from this week’s game seem to be setting the tone for the rest of the season. We’re going to continually look to define Brandon Weeden. On one side there will be those who seem to defend him out of hope, those that will bash him out of preemptive judgement, and those that continue to sit and watch and take it all in. Where are you guys on Brandon Weeden at...

NFL News: Brandon Weeden is not on a “short leash” after loss

Despite completing just 49.0 percent of his passes and throwing three interceptions in a Week 1 loss to the Miami Dolphins, and the flurry of national pundits writing to the contrary, second-year quarterback Brandon Weeden is not on a “short leash” when it comes to being benched by Cleveland Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski. “These guys are developing players and they’re...

Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden calls Sports Illustrated report “comical”

I’ve read the first story that came out and literally I laughed throughout the entire thing. It’s comical for a lot of reasons and I won’t take a lot of time to go through the whole deal, but obviously it’s dealing more with before I got there. First of all, clean slate, I didn’t take any money or do anything like that. That wasn’t the issue. It all happened before I...

Browns' Weeden takes hits before, after loss

Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden took a pounding in Sunday's opener. He absorbed a few more shots the day after. Weeden threw three interceptions in Cleveland's 23-10 loss to the Miami Dolphins, who sacked the second-year QB six times, pressured him numerous more and left him bruised from head to toe. Weeden's shaky performance - he underthrew some passes, forced a...

After a strange few days for the runningback Dennis Johnson, he will finally land on his feet. He was signed as an undrafted free agent to the Houston Texans before getting cut during the final cuts. He was claimed by the Cleveland Browns but later cut. Well it seems he has cleared through waivers and […]

Browns slot 30th in Week 2 ESPN Power Rankings

It could be worse: The Cleveland Browns will enter Week 2′s contest against the Baltimore Ravens slotted 30th in ESPN’s weekly NFL Power Rankings. Down two spots from their preseason placement, only the Oakland Raiders and Jacksonville Jaguars are keeping the Orange and Brown from the cellar of the National Football League. ESPN cites Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden’s abysmal...

Cleveland Browns: 2013 Week 2 NFL Power Rankings (#30)

I thought the Browns would be competitive with the Dolphins on the strength of their front 7 and their offensive line, but Brandon Weeden’s poor performance made that impossible, as he completed 26 of 53 for 289 yards, 1 touchdown, and 3 interceptions. Their secondary also did not look good. Joe Haden was great as always, shutting down Mike Wallace, but Haden’s value is minimized...

A lot of athletes feel that they’ve made it when they finally hear their name mentioned in a hip hop song.
