Found August 12, 2013 on NFL Injury Report:
Due to an ailing shin, Cleveland Browns running back, Trent Richardson, missed practice a few days last week and had a first class ticket on the pine train for the Browns’ preseason opener.  Richardson now declares himself 100 percent and ready to play against the Detroit Lions this week.  The Browns, however, might have another agenda. As NBCSports Josh Alper reports, the Browns’ goal is to keep their third overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft on the pine train until it stops for the Browns’ season opener against the Miami Dolphins.  Richardson sees there could be a benefit either way stating “I think you could benefit either way: not being out there and not getting hurt for the regular season and being out there and being ready for the regular season.” Browns’ running backs coach, John Settle, thinks Richardson does not need to play in any preseason games to be ready for the regular season.  However, Richardson has been more involved in practice indicating the Browns may play him at some point during the preseason.  Players can get hurt standing on the sidelines, riding their Harleys after practice, stage diving at nightclubs, riding the exercise bike and even walking from one practice field to the other slipping on mats placed there to protect players from walking on the pavement.  This is football, not ping-pong (I have nothing against ping-pong) and players get hurt.  However, if you are healthy, get in the game, get your reps, feel the speed of the game and show your teammates that you want to be in there, preseason or not.  In football, on some occasions, it is not about a certain individual but about the ten other players sacrificing their bodies to the football gods play after play.  Richardson needs his reps and to feel the speed of the game.  He needs to be in top football shape come time to squish the fish.  The success of the Browns’ season rest on the shoulders of Richardson and the sooner he gets off the pine train the better the Browns will be.   You can follow me on twitter @TheSoftParade69 Talk football talk cigars talk anything, I know a little about a lot.
