When Cal State Fullerton’s Austin Kingsolver stepped up to the plate to face Arizona State pitcher Josh McAlister, I doubt very much he thought he’d end up taking a breaking pitch right to the groin. But that’s exactly what happened to Kingsolver, as a McAlister slider came way, way in on the left-handed hitter, nailing him in the sweet spot, so to speak. Kingsolver’s unfortunate beaning took place in the top of the 7th inning with the Titans up 5-1 at the time during the NCAA regionals this past Sunday afternoon. McAlister, meanwhile, cared not for Kingsolver’s intense scrotal pain, instead arguing that the Cal State Fullerton hitter went around on the pitch, and should have been rung up on a strikeout. At the very least McAlister should have bowed his head in silent prayer for Kingsolver’s potentially damaged goods, as is clearly stated in the Man Code handbook. Here’s video of the ball-on-balls crime (via Bob’s Blitz)… Cal State went on to win 6-1 to advance to the NCAA Super Regional against UCLA. Kingsolver should be ready to go for the game against UCLA— his genitals, however, have been placed on the 15-day disabled list.
