Found November 15, 2013 on Fox Sports Midwest:
Parents are always looking out for their kids, and the same can be said for the St. Louis Cardinals and their Triple-A affiliate Memphis Redbirds. The Memphis Redbirds Baseball Foundation announced Friday that it has reached a strategic agreement that would rescue the financially troubled Redbirds and AutoZone Park. The Foundation has been operating the Redbirds and AutoZone Park under a forbearance agreement since it defaulted on its required bond payment in 2010. The agreement calls for the Cardinals to acquire the Redbirds and the City of Memphis to acquire AutoZone Park. The City would then lease the ballpark to the Redbirds through a long-term lease agreement. The agreement includes a significant capital investment in AutoZone Park to add features that will significantly improve the overall fan experience. The plan has the full support of the Foundations sole bondholder, Fundamental Advisors LP ("Fundamental"), who will retire the original bonds issued by the Memphi...

Catching up on the Cardinals trade rumors

We're only about two weeks into the Hot Stove league and the trade rumors are already heating up for the Cardinals.  Two areas that appear to be on the front burner are the quest for a shortstop and whether or not to trade David Freese. Here's a look at the rumors surrounding those two areas:The Quest for a ShortstopJohn Mozeliak made it known shortly after the end of the...

What should the St. Louis Cardinals do at shortstop?

The 2013 St. Louis Cardinals were a complete team, with quality contributions coming from all areas, culminating in a division crown and a trip to the World Series.  The Cards had very few weaknesses, but the most glaring of which was the shortstop position.  The offensive production from Pete Kozma and Daniel Descalso was anemic and their defense was not enough to make up for...

A St. Louis Cardinals trade for a shortstop will be difficult, complex

With many blessings come many opportunities, both good and bad, and those competing interests will likely try to pull the St. Louis Cardinals in opposite directions during the offseason. Trevor Rosenthal – photo from FoxSportsMidwest The Cardinals have an abundance of young pitchers who all throw hard, have excellent command and helped carry the team to a World Series appearance...

McCutchen wins NL MVP, but Molina deserved it

ST. LOUIS -- As many statistics as there are in baseball, at least one more is needed. There needs to be a number to measure the intangibles, those hard-to-quantify factors that can't be found in the box score (or even on fangraphs.com). Otherwise, Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina never will win what he deserved to win Thursday night: The NL MVP award. Instead, Molina finished...

Report: David Freese Trade to Yankees ‘Not Happening’ Despite Rumored Discussions With Cardinals

David Freese shouldn’t pack his suitcase just yet. A report surfaced Wednesday stating that the Yankees and Cardinals were discussing a trade involving Freese. But according to the New York Post’s Joel Sherman, a trade isn’t happening, as it doesn’t make sense for the Yankees given the current state of the Alex Rodriguez situation. The Yankees will need a third baseman if...

Searching For the Value of Yadier Molina

The official 2013 National League Most Valuable Player is Andrew McCutchen, who was terrific. From what anyone can tell, he’s a very deserving winner, but the voting still came with a few little controversies. For one, Paul Goldschmidt didn’t pick up a single first-place vote, and all season he was incredibly clutch. For two, a pair of first-place votes went to Yadier Molina...

Cardinals prospect interview Stephen Piscotty

The St. Louis Cardinals outfield prospect opened eyes with a strong showing in the Arizona Fall League.

Cards Steal Brewers Groundskeeper & Friday Links

Perspective.  As Cardinals fans it's sometimes hard to gain. 2 NL pennants. 1 World Series championship. 6 playoff series wins (not even counting the win against Atlanta in 2012 as a 'series'.) And, that, my friend, is just the past 3 seasons.  Go ahead and ask you favorite baseball pundit who they think will be in the NL Driver's seat come April. They&...
