When the Cardinals had to place catcher Yadier Molina on the DL, they were losing a potential MVP candidate and replacing him for 15-days isn't easy. He's a presence in the lineup that will make every team nervous when he comes to the plate. The Cardinals have received 'encouraging reports' on catcher Yadier Molina's knee injury, according to Cardinals manager Mike Matheny. He doesn't appear close to coming off of the DL, however. Molina has done minor exercises, but he hasn't resumed baseball related activities yet. The Cardinals' main focus has been to get the swelling down in his knee and get him back to 100 percent. They are being careful with Molina and for good reason. Molina is hitting .330 with eight home runs and 54 RBI's in 98 games. Once Molina returns, the Cardinals will be getting a key piece to the puzzle back. Once Molina returns, expect the offense to get a big boost and also expect the pitching staff to get a boost of confidence. He controls the pitching staff and they trust him. He is one of, if not the best defensive catchers in baseball and the pitchers know that if they throw a pitch 10 feet in front of home plate that Molina has a very good chance of getting it. When Molina returns, the Cardinals will have arguably their best player coming back in the middle of a playoff race. As of now, they are trailing the Pirates by one and a half games in the top heavy NL Central. Follow Robert on Twitter @RobertMurrayMLB Follow @mlbinjurynews Looking for fantasy baseball advice?
