The Michigan Wolverines coaching staff is no longer recruiting 4-star defensive back prospect Yuri Wright (Ramsey. NJ) and his previously scheduled official visit to Ann Arbor this weekend has been cancelled.

Wright's high school coach Greg Toal spoke with TheWolverine.com Thursday afternoon about the status of his star cornerback's visit to Michigan.

"I can't really say exactly why," Toal said. "I just know that he's not going."

There has been no official comments from Wright about the sudden change in status with Michigan, but the ongoing speculation is that after watching the Don Bosco Prep cornerback perform in the Army All-American Bowl the Wolverines did not believe he was good enough in coverage to play on the outside and believed he would be better suited at safety.

Michigan already has three safeties, Allen Gant (Sylvania, OH), Jeremy Clark (Madisonville, KY) and Jarrod Wilson (Akron, OH), in their 2012 recruiting class and as a result the Wolverines are likely ready to put all their efforts towards luring 4-star cornerback Armani Reeves (West Roxbury, MA) away from Penn State.

Reeves, who has been committed to Penn State since last August, is the No. 213 overall prospect and No. 17 ranked cornerback according to Rivals.com. The highly touted cornerback is taking an official visit to Michigan this weekend though.

As for Wright, the nation's No. 3 ranked cornerback and No. 57 overall prospect will take official visits to Georgia and Rutgers before making his final decision sometime around national signing day.

In other recruiting news, Michigan is still in play for 3-star wide receiver Monty Madaris (Cincinnati, OH) even though he cancelled his official visit to Ann Arbor this weekend.

According to Madaris' head coach at Moeller High School, John Rodenberg, the Wolverines are still working with the nation's No. 55 ranked wide receiver to set up a visit in the coming weeks.

"They're trying to work something out where he can still visit," Rodenberg said. "They're trying to get a visit with him. It won't be this weekend though."

Michigan will have to act fast though, because according to a report from Cincinnati.com's recruiting blog on Wednesday afternoon, Madaris is "expected to make his college decision the weekend of January 21st, according to the family."

Madaris reportedly has narrowed his list of schools down to Michigan State, Kentucky, Cincinnati and Michigan.

The leader at this point is probably Michigan State, however if Michigan can find a way to get Madaris on campus for an official visit they may be able to make up enough ground to secure his commitment.

If not, the Wolverines already have two solid receivers in their 2012 class, Jehu Chesson and Amara Darboh, and Madaris will likely wind up donning the green and white in East Lansing.

Do not be though surprised if Michigan finds a way to get him on campus, or if the Ohio wideout opts to stay close to home and play for Cincinnati. Kentucky seems like a long shot at the moment.
