Imagine a pediatric doctor being so angry at another human that he’d tell that human to “Go catch a movie in Aurora,” a reference to the massacre at the suburban Denver theater where 12 people were killed and 58 were injured. From a pediatric doctor. Now imagine that same doctor, Scott Schnee (@Babydocscott), is a Phoenix Coyotes fan and told Denver Post Avalanche reporter Adrian Dater (@adater) “join Jessica (Redfield) for all I care,” a reference to the former Busted Coverage writer and Denver sports reporter who was cowardly murdered in the Aurora slaughter. From a pediatric doctor. On Twitter. Schnee locked his account after word spread of his ridiculous tweets.   Dater considered Redfield to be a personal friend and penned an emotional blog post soon after her death in which he wrote: “I guess I kind of took her under my wing a little. For one thing, us gingers stick together, and she looked a lot like my kid sister. I knew that she was very ambitious and wanted to advance along into the world of sports journalism, and I always like seeing young people like that.” According to Schnee’s biography: Pediatrics is a wonderful field. I love to solve puzzles. Children fill my days with new puzzles to solve. When I help a sick child, I not only make the child feel better, but I help the entire family feel better. For me, there is no greater calling. We’ll assume the good doctor didn’t actually mean the tweets he sent and will apologize for being a giant asshole. [HT: South Stands Denver] Filed under: Hockey

Lombardi eager to find his place with Coyotes

GLENDALE, Ariz. Matthew Lombardi had barely settled into the idea of being a Phoenix Coyote when that identity took a hit literally. In just his fourth game in a Coyotes sweater, Lombardi was back on the sidelines with a shoulder injury suffered against the San Jose Sharks on Jan. 24. Man, it was pretty disappointing with the excitement of coming back and coming to a team I had...

Coyotes get important win to close homestand

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The NHL schedule is filled with self-imposed mile markers to help teams gauge success. But there was nothing fake about the Coyotes' need for four points on this brief homestand. Phoenix has four days off before it embarks on a difficult road trip through western Canada -- an eternity in this lockout-squeezed schedule and the longest break the team will enjoy...

Crossing The Line

from Greg Wyshynski of Puck Daddy, Dave Tippett, the target of Dater’s snark, is the head coach the Phoenix Coyotes. The “@BabyDocScott” is the account of Scott Schnee, a doctor who works at Banner Health Clinic in Mesa, Arizona. “Go catch a movie in Aurora” is a reference to the July 20, 2012, mass shooting at a midnight screening of “The Dark Knight Rises”...

Coyotes light up Flames in shutout win

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- Phoenix jumped on a tired team early, played sound in its own end and got another superb game from goalie Mike Smith. This is precisely the how the Coyotes need to play -- and not a bad way to head into a rare extended break during this strike-shortened season. Smith stopped 30 shots for his third shutout, Keith Yandle scored in the opening minute of the...
