Love My Bravos:
Alex Wood's second career pitch
This was a pretty fun game - Freddie Freeman bobblehead day, scoring 11 runs, and Alex Wood's MLB debut. Alison and Laura and I sat above 1B so Alison could see her beloved second team up close and Laura could cheer for Freddie. (Everyone on this side was cheering extra-hard for Freddie!)
Here are some pictures...
I missed most of BP, I'm but amused that Casey Janssen got the memo on how closers stand for pictures in Atlanta. ;)
Former Brave Mark DeRosa practicing 3B before the game
I think this is a real jersey; I don't think that's his real hair.

BEST OF MAXIM
Susan and I went to see Beachy's rehab start at the Gwinnett Braves last night. Pictures below, and just a few notes...
♡ Beachy looked pretty, ladies.
♡ His hair is still hilarious.
♡ His box score looked good: lots of strikes, lots of Ks. But the balls that were hit were hit pretty hard; I'm glad he had some good defense behind him. Watching his five innings...
Rohm made the Carolina League All-Star team this season
David Rohm was a 9th Round pick of the Atlanta Braves in the 2010 draft. After signing with the Braves, Rohm played 1 season for (R) Danville, and 1 Season at (A) Rome. He is in his 2nd full season with (Adv. A) Lynchburg.
Milb.com says Rohm was a big part of last year’s Carolina League Championship for the Hillcats. Rohm...
Atlanta Braves second baseman Dan Uggla has had some great moments since he came to Atlanta, but he’s also been a major enigma. Uggla is the second highest paid Braves player behind B.J. Upton, but his production hasn’t been top ten. Uggla has not only struggled at the plate, he is currently 20th in the major leagues in second base fielding percentage at .965, and is tied for...
ATLANTA It's nearly impossible to envision the return of Brandon Beachy, last season's National League ERA before being shut down for Tommy John surgery, creating an issue for the Braves' brass. And yet, the day is fast approaching and Atlanta still needs to create space on the roster for its could-be No. 1 starter.
There is no definitive blueprint for how to wean a...
Atlanta Braves right-handed starting pitcher Brandon Beachy was impressive in his most recent minor league rehab start. Assuming all goes well in his last scheduled appearance in the minors, Beachy is currently on pace to be activated from the disabled list on June 18, according to David O'Brien of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
In his next-to-last rehab start, Beachy...
NOT SO BRAVE
The retired Braves slugger might want to think twice before he tries to crack jokes about immigration on Twitter.
Here are three things we learned from the Braves' 2-1 victory over the Dodgers, a game that offered more twists and turns than your standard outing of three combined runs:
1. Get ready for the first (and probably last) Bo JacksonKris Medlen comparison in sports history
Most baseball fans recall that Jackson once a two-sport world-beater with MLB's Kansas City Royals and...
The Washington Nationals’ Jayson Werth made headlines before the season, when he stated that the Philadelphia Phillies would be the Nationals’ biggest competition this season to win the National League East, not the Atlanta Braves. How does that crow taste, Jayson Werth? With nearly 40% of the season complete, it appears that Werth was correct about the Phillies being the Nationals’...
ATLANTA The Los Angeles Dodgers took down the Atlanta Braves 2-1 in extra innings Friday night. Here are three observations from the game:
1. The Dodgers did not need the 10th-inning, clutch hit to earn the win
Up until the 10th inning Friday night, the Braves pitching staff starter Paul Maholm and relievers Jordan Walden and Luis Avilan was outstanding. Maholm essentially made...
A wild pitch by Anthony Varvano allowed Ramon Hernandez, the Dodger catcher, to move to 3rd base with just one out in the bottom of the 10th. With Juan Uribe at the plate, and Skip Schumaker pinch running for Hernandez, Varvano threw his 2nd wild pitch of the inning. This one was costly as Schumaker scored from 3rd to give the Dodgers a 2-1 win over the Braves. The win gives...
Greg Maddux Career was unparalled
How does a guy who looks like an accountant and has an avg fastball speed under 90 mph win 350+ games and strikeout 3300+ players?
Like real estate, location, location, location.
I still remember when the Chicago Cubs let him go and he signed with the Atlanta Braves. I couldn’t stop shaking my head. I was so confused as to why the Cubs would...
Kris Medlen hit a solo homer and pitched 6 2/3 shutout innings as the Atlanta Braves defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers Saturday night, 2-1. The win gives the Braves a chance to split the series Sunday afternoon. After a Dan Uggla solo shot, and a B.J. Upton strikeout, Braves starting pitcher Kris Medlen belted a solo shot of his own. The home run was the 1st of Medlen’s big...
Chipper Jones tweets, "Y'all think if they took all them gators they trap in Fla and La and put them in the Rio Grande, it wud stop the illegals from crossing? Jk"

There is a saying out there that Chipper Jones might want to remember the next time he goes on Twitter — think before you tweet.
The former third baseman for the Atlanta Braves sent out a tweet Saturday afternoon pondering whether or not alligators can be used to stop illegal immigrants from crossing the American-Mexican border.
It appeared to be an attempt at a joke, though, with...
