The New York Giants have been without defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul throughout training camp after he underwent back surgery late into the offseason. At this point, Pierre-Paul is attempting to work his way back into playing shape by Week 1. Head coach indicated that Pierre-Paul is nearing a pivotal step in his return from injury, as he told reporters – including those at Giants.com – that the pass rusher is “getting close” to being activated from the physically unable to perform list. Pierre-Paul is focused on being healthy enough to be on the Giants’ active roster when the regular season begins. If he’s not activated from the PUP list by Week 1, he wouldn’t be eligible for activation until after Week 6. It seems like he’ll be able to avoid this fate, but it remains unclear when he’ll return to the field for the Giants. Even after he’s activated from the PUP list, Pierre-Paul has indicated that he’ll continue to take things slow as he doesn’t want to rush his rehab process. He’s said that Week 1 isn’t his focus, he simply wants to make it back healthy as soon as possible. Follow @TheNFLInjuryRpt Looking for fantasy football advice?
