  The new York Jets have placed wide receiver Santonio Holmes on the PUP list as he continued to recover from Lisfranc surgery. The Jets have placed WR Santonio Holmes on the PUP list. Tone is eligible to come off of the PUP once he's medically cleared to practice. — Eric Allen (@eallenjets) July 24, 2013 Holmes recently couldn’t tell the New York Daily News when he’ll be back on the field. “I don’t have a target date,” said Holmes at uSTADIUM’s Flags for Foundations flag football tournament on Roosevelt Island Saturday. “I don’t want to do anything to jeopardize myself being ready for the season.” It didn’t sound like Holmes had done anything close to running fly routes at full speed. The veteran wide receiver said he’s been running on a non-weight bearing treadmill at least three times per week. He’s done minimal football activities, “but it’s only to the extent that the trainers want to see the movements,” he said. “It’s just getting back into the swing of walking and running without any pains from having scar tissue build up around the injury,” said Holmes. “It’s really difficult to learn how to walk again. To do so much balance work, you don’t realize what you have until it’s gone. To lose a ligament and have separation in your joints, have screws placed in.” With both Holmes and Stephen Hill recovering from injuries, the best receiver the Jets have that’s healthy is Jeremy Kerley.     Need NFL Tickets?
