ESPN’s Adam Schefter believes that Mark Sanchez is the favorite to win the Jets starting quarterback job now that David Garrard has retired.  He also believes that rookie Geno Smith will get a oppurtunity at some point to start as well in order for the Jets to see what kind of player he is. I agree with Schefter, Sanchez has a shot at being the starter for their season opener against the Bucs because of his experience.  But at the end of the day, if he struggles early on, I don’t believe the Jets will hesitate to pull the plug on him in favor of Smith.   Need NFL Tickets? With Mark Sanchez deserving of a shower in the swamps of Jersey, Geno Smith has the ‘physical skills’ to fly the Jets

Noting the rookie quarterback’s “physical skills,” New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan praised Geno Smith on Wednesday. Chosen 39th overall out of West Virginia, the 22-year-old Smith has looked solid during organized team activities and shown leadership abilities off the gridiron. “I don’t think it’s too big for (Geno),” said Ryan, 50, a poor bastard who, despite having...

Mets Can’t Project Anything From Top Draft Pick Dominic Smith

There are a lot of things you can make of the Mets’ selection of high school first baseman Dominic Smith – all of 17 years old – with the 11th overall pick in the draft. The first is the obvious, that the Mets are no longer enamored with Ike Davis, but that’s the knee-jerk response. However, remember Smith, at 17, has to be at least three to four years away. SMITH: Mets...

Schefter: Vick favorite to win Eagles starting job

ESPN’s Adam Schefter feels like Michael Vick has to be considered the favorite right now to win the Eagles starting quarterback job because of how much money he’s scheduled to make in 2013 and the fact that he’s more experienced and more talented than the other quarterbacks on their roster. It ultimately makes the most sense for Vick to start.  The preseason will give Chip...

Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl Ring Unveiled

The Baltimore Ravens visited the White House on Thursday and their Super Bowl rings have emerged courtesy of Adam Schefter, who was given a sneak preview prior to the rings going out to the players.  It’s certainly a lot of diamonds and a cool ring design except for the logo.  The Ravens logo looks absolutely brutal, almost like it was painted on there.  Certainly it is big...

Jets' makeshift WR situation not aiding QB bout

BY NICK ST. DENISWhile Mark Sanchez and Geno Smith battle over the New York Jets' lone starting quarterback job, they're depending on a random hodgepodge of receivers to help their respective cases. (photo: Billtacular, Flickr)Gang Green has been without their No. 1 wideout during OTAs. They're also missing their No. 2 this week. Oh, and their No. 3 and No. 4 options...

Jets' Ryan: QB battle not settled

Mark Sanchez or Geno Smith? Rex Ryan is in no rush to decide. So, for those expecting the New York Jets to figure out their quarterback situation by the end of next week's minicamp, you'll have to wait a while longer. ''I don't think we're close to that right now,'' Ryan said Wednesday after the team's final session of organized team activities...

Jets will kick on the tires on Mike Sim-Walker

The Jets are already giving Kellein Winslow a try out next week during their mandatory minicamp.  It looks like they’ll take a look at another veteran. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Jets will take a look at wide receiver Mike Sims-Walker. In addition to TE Kellen Winslow Jr., Jets also have invited WR Mike Sims-Walker to try out during this week's camp. — Adam...

New York Jets Fans – Why Do We Hate This Man?

Turn On The Jets is happy to welcome our newest writer Daniel Marcus. Make sure to give him a follow on Twitter.  Jets fans, it’s time to have a talk, a heart-to-heart so to speak. It occurred to me the other day that there has not been a New York Jet in recent memory that sparks such (in my opinion) undue animosity than beleaguered soon-to-be former Starting Quarterback, Mark...

Mark Sanchez Doesn’t Know Names of His Receivers at Jets OTAs

With wide receivers Santonio Holmes, Stephen Hill and Jeremy Kerley all recovering from injuries, Mark Sanchez doesn’t know much about the receivers he’s been throwing to at Jets OTAs. He might start by learning their names. Sanchez has been throwing passes to five entirely new receivers during organized team activities over the past few weeks, and he doesn’t even know their...
