After yesterday’s game, @Edelman11 now holds the @NFL all-time record for punt return average at 13.0 yards. (min 75 returns) — New England Patriots (@Patriots) September 9, 2013 A.B. Julian Edelman has been a member of the New England Patriots since 2009, returning a punt for a touchdown in each of the last 3 seasons (’10, ’11, ’12), with his longest return being 94 yards in 2010. But for a team that has featured multiple punt returners over the last few years (Edelman, Welker, McCourty, etc.) it’s surprising that anyone on the Patriots would hold an NFL punt return record. So, congrats to Julian on the record but now let’s hope he can contribute to a depleted Patriots’ offense from a WR standpoint as well. Stats via

New England Patriots Week 2: Preview, prediction

After Sunday’s game against Buffalo, I knew that the reaction would be negative overall, even with it being a win. That was certainly my reaction. But in my haste to ignore any icky feeling, I was convinced that all of this mad juju would blow over, and that the New England Patriots were going to improve inevitably. I was convinced that by the time I wrote this preview, confidence...

Injury-plagued Patriots hurry to prepare for Jets

Julian Edelman isn't wasting time as he moves on from his strong season-opening performance for the Patriots. Even the three days between that game against the Buffalo Bills and Thursday night's against the New York Jets is more than enough. New England needs his focus to be sharp - and his body to be healthy - as it deals with numerous injuries to players who Tom Brady...

Fantasy Football 2013: Why Patriots WR Julian Edelman is a Must Start in Week 2

There was never a question about the talent of the New England Patriots’ wide receiver Danny Amendola, injuries have always been his issue – and after an impressive debut with 10 catches for over 100 yards and already the injury bug is hitting the high profile free agent signee as he tries to replace the venerable Wes Welker. It has already been all but confirmed that Amendola...

Wes Welker Tweets Praise for Julian Edelman During Patriots-Jets Game

Julian Edelman put up career-high numbers Thursday night against the Jets, and one of his former teammates took notice. Edelman was on the receiving end of 13 passes from Tom Brady on Thursday Night Football, and like many fans, Edelman’s former Patriots teammate Wes Welker took to Twitter to express his congratulations. My dude @Edelman11 is having a hell of a game. Keep it going...

Edelman to carry load against Jets

In a game where many people thought it shouldn't have been as close as it was, the Patriots escaped Buffalo with a win. The 23-21 victory was a nail biter for most. With an inconsistent game offensively the Patriots looked to a new target to carry the load. That target was wide receiver Julian Edelman. The receiver who many figured to be Wes Welker's replacement at some...

Welker tweets on Edelman performance

Wes Welker took some time during Thursday night's 13-10 Patriots win to tweet his thoughts on former teammate Julian Edelman. My dude @Edelman11 is having a hell of a game. Keep it going bud! — Wes Welker (@WesWelker) September 13, 2013 Edelman finished the night with a career high 13 catches for 78 yards and was targeted by a frustrated Tom Brady 18 times.   Obviously...

Julian Edelman Proving to Be Reliable Option for Patriots, Which Tom Brady Will Need Against Jets

It seemed there were only three players that Tom Brady could count on against the Bills on Sunday. One of them was Julian Edelman. For much of Edelman’s young career, the college quarterback turned receiver couldn’t seem to get out of his own way. The potential and talent were there, but the production never seemed to sync up with the enormous hype that preceded him. After first...

Tom Brady: I have to improve my body language

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and his receivers had a frustrating night on Thursday. Dropped balls, slight overthrows, sloppy conditions, you name it, marred the productivity of a usually remarkably efficient offense. Brady ended up having an extremely sub-par night, especially statistically. For the first time in four years, Brady completed less than fifty […]The...

Tom Brady on Pats offense: ‘We have a long way to go’

The New England Patriots are 2-0 after beating the New York Jets 13-10 Thursday night. But they punted 11 times and managed just nine first downs after leading the NFL in points and yards last season. “I’m glad we won, but we just obviously have a lot of room for improvement,” said Patriots quarterback

Julian Edelman Taking Lessons From Wes Welker in Emergence as Patriots’ Go-to Receiver

FOXBORO, Mass. – Julian Edelman‘s performance on Thursday night brought back memories of an old friend — you know exactly who. With Rob Gronkowski and Danny Amendola both sidelined for the Jets’ midweek visit to Foxboro, Tom Brady had to look elsewhere to get the passing game going. Edelman was that guy. Where Wes Welker would have been Brady’s go-to receiver in year...

James Develin and Leon Washington were added to the roster, while A.J. Francis and Braxston Cave were cut, then added to the practice squad....

Patriots win sloppy 13-10 contest over Jets

The Patriots pushed out to 2-0 on the season Thursday night with a sloppy 13-10 win over the Jets at Gillette Stadium. Quarterback Tom Brady who was clearly pretty frustrated by the performance of some of his receivers came away 19-for-39 for 185 yards with one touchdown while Julian Edelman was far and away the best offensive skill position player on either side of the ball. The...
