Baseball has forever been a game filled with superstition and lore. Some teams rely on rally caps or chewing tobacco to continue dominant performances, but the the Kansas City Royals have their own unique rally item — barbecue sauce.
The Royals have won five straight games heading into Monday night while rallying around their sweet and sticky talisman, which came courtesy of slugger Billy Butler. Butler’s barbecue sauce benefits his “Hit-It-A-Ton” charity, and has the Royals dugout in a barbecue sauce-laden craze.
It seems the sauce truly has helped the Royals “hit it a ton.” To see the rally sauce in action, check out the video below.

Kansas City Royals starter Danny Duffy got bombed in Omaha last night in his quest to come beck from 2012 Tommy John surgery. Just promoted to AAA after 3 short rehab stints in AA NW Arkansas, Duffy did not survive the third inning. In a 10-7 Stormchaser’s victory over the Nashville Sounds, Duffy surrendered 3 runs in the fourth inning and four more in the 3rd...
KANSAS CITY, Mo. At some point very soon, perhaps even today, the Royals are likely to activate outfielder Jarrod Dyson from his rehab assignment at Triple-A Omaha.
And that, of course, means the Royals will have to make a subsequent roster move to make space for Dyson, a speedy and valuable weapon in the Royals' offense.
Perhaps the easy move would be to simply send outfielder...

Starter Wade Davis is the red-headed stepchild on the Kansas City Royals pitching staff. Currently scuffling with a 3-5 record and 5.37 ERA on a staff that leads the American League in ERA, Davis is the odd man out. After being touted as the “hidden value” in the Wil Myers trade due to five more years of team control, Wade Davis has disappointed most Royals fans...

After the Kansas City Royals lost 19 of 23 games during the month of May, including an 8-game losing streak, the season looked done. At 21-29, statistical projections gave them less than a 5% chance of making the playoffs. More importantly, management seemed out of answers about how to pull out of the slump. The low point came May 23 when general manager Dayton Moore...
KANSAS CITY, Mo. The minute first-round draft pick Hunter Dozier ducked into the Royals' clubhouse on Monday, Royals players took one look and decided he was ready to play in the big leagues now.
Get a uniform on, son, they yelled.
"I appreciated that," Dozier said later, slightly embarrassed.
Indeed, Dozier does pass the eye test with his strapping, square-jawed...

(AP) -- The Kansas City Royals have their longest winning streak in nearly two years. They'll have to get past one of baseball's best pitchers to extend it further.
Unbeaten Max Scherzer will take the mound for the Detroit Tigers in Kansas City on Tuesday night, looking to derail the Royals' run.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. We already know the strength of this Royals team is its pitching.
And within the next month or so, it could get even stronger with the possible additions of left-hander Danny Duffy and right-hander Felipe Paulino, both recovering from Tommy John surgery last summer.
Duffy already is on rehab assignment and has moved up to Triple-A Omaha.
Paulino now is set to...
KANSAS CITY, MO. (AP) The Kansas City Royals have signed first-round draft pick Hunter Dozier for 2.2 million.

The 21-year-old Dozier led the Southland Conference with a .396 batting average, .755 slugging percentage, 25 doubles...

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- You know a team's fan base has faith when, barely two weeks removed from one of the most horrendous stretches in franchise history, it sets a TV ratings record. Even when facing "The Voice."
Maybe it's a hunger for winning. Maybe it's the return of George Brett to the dugout. Maybe it's the best pitching staff Kansas City has seen in...
Umpire Dana Demuth put a little funk into his out call when the Royals’ Chris Getz was caught stealing by Tigers catcher Alex Avila in the fourth inning Monday. One pump wasn’t good enough. Demuth needed several.
The major league baseball amateur baseball draft has come and gone and there was an emphasis on family bloodlines. Time will tell if the selections were made because of the talent potential due to their family genes or if the team simply felt a loyalty to the former player. Regardless, here are the bloodlines that were drafted this past weekend.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Maybe the Detroit Tigers have to worry more about a team further down in the division standings after sweeping the club that is right behind them.
The Tigers have won four straight heading into Monday night's road matchup with a Kansas City Royals team seeking its first six-game win streak in two seasons.
Detroit (35-26) extended its lead in the AL...
