FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. On the heels of his first October practice on Wednesday, Atlanta Falcons tailback Steven Jackson sounded as if he would attempt to play Sunday against Arizona. In September, with Jackson nursing a hamstring injury, he wrote on his personal blog that he would not return until he was 100 percent. On Wednesday, he was asked how close he was to 100 percent. "I think I'm feeling, to this point, well enough to give it a go and be out there and be effective like Day 1," Jackson said. Later, asked to clarify as to whether he would play against the Cardinals, Jackson equivocated things a bit. "We'll see," he said. "The game is Sunday. I'm aware of that, the team is aware of that but at the same time Im here to make a difference and were going to see if I can do that." Without Jackson, the Falcons running game has struggled. The Falcons rank 30th in rushing yards per game, at 68.3. Jason Snelling and Jacquizz Rodgers have taken over the duties with Jackson out since the first series of Week 2. Jackson, speaking publicly for the first time since the Sept. 15 injury, explained what makes his malady so tricky. "What makes the hamstring so difficult is you're actually able to run but once you hit top gear is when you feel it," he said. "Walking around, I feel no issues, jogging I feel no issues but when its time to run and make the cuts I need to do, thats what makes a hamstring difficult." Jackson made a cryptic comment about not being on the same page as the team doctor. It was difficult to tell from his comment which one was cautioning more rest. "The leg is feeling a lot better, he said. "Ive seen the doctor more times than I'd like to. Finally, he and I are the on same page. It's been encouraging enough, the progress I've made, to give it a go." The Falcons can wait on Jackson until 90 minutes before kickoff, at approximately 2:55 EST p.m. on Sunday.
