Double Coverage Football:
Evanston, Illinois. Five seconds left. Northwestern down by 4 but covering the 6.5-point spread and holding the ball. Degenerate gambler and Wildcat alum Brent Musburger in the booth giddily shaking and dreaming about what to do with all the money he's about to win on his alma mater plus the points. No way this is getting screwed up. Right?
We've seen bad beats before. We've seen Musburger decompose in the booth after clearly losing a bet before. We've seen wild finishes before. But the trifecta we saw Saturday night in Evanston was stupefying. Just look at Brent's call:
"So here they come with the hook and ladder...scramble for the ball...touchdown Ohio State. And you know what? There are some folks who are celebrating and others who are saying "You've GOT to be kidding me." There are some numbers crunchers...oooh ho ho. Oh my goodness. Oh my goodness.

Ohio State beat Northwestern Saturday night in the Big Ten battle of unbeatens. Forget the BCS and national championship talk for a second though, the major storyline coming out of the game was one of the craziest covers Vegas has ever seen. Thanks to this failed lateralpalooza being fumbled into the endzone and recovered by the Buckeyes, up to $100 million dollars changed hands...
James Murphy must have seen that goal Thierry Henry scored in 2000. How else would he have thought to try it in an American college (university) soccer game on Sunday?
Murphy, a sophomore forward at the University of Michigan, scored the game’s only goal in his team’s victory over rival Ohio State. The strike was straight out of Henry’s personal highlight reel, and Murphy...
Ohio State covered the 7.5 point spread against Northwestern last night after the latter's no time on the clock lateral attempts failed and OSU recovered in the end zone for six. Brent Musburger noted that some 'number crunchers' would be happy with the Wildcats continued role as a point spread darling.

Carlos Hyde had a huge game at Northwestern last night- three touchdowns and over 160 yards. On a night when Ohio State really needed Carlos Hyde. Jordan Hall did not dress and has a knee issue that they need to take care of according to Urban Meyer. So Hyde was MVP for the Buckeyes.
NU has had issues stopping star tailbacks in games when they host ESPN College Gameday. Mikel Leshoure...
Ohio State (6-0, 2-0) survives against Northwestern University (4-1, 0-1) Saturday evening in a matchup of undefeated Big 10 Conference teams. The Buckeyes had to come back in the 4th quarter and eventually won 40-30. The Buckeyes added the last 6 points by recovering the football in the end zone after a last effort by the Wildcats to score. Ohio State relied heavily on the legs...
With Ohio State at the midway point of the schedule and the Big Ten race starting to come into focus, it's time to take a look at what might happen Dec. 7 when the third Big Ten Championship Game takes place. OSU is the league favorite, but who else has a chance to capture the conference?
Ohio State ran its winning streak to 18 games with a 40-30 triumph in an intense game at No. 16 Northwestern. We have comments from head coach Urban Meyer and senior safety C.J. Barnett after the fourth-ranked Buckeyes' huge win.

Throughout the 2013 season, I’ll be ranking the Big Ten schools 1-12. Click here to see where your team was ranked last week. Prepare to disagree… Ohio State. The Buckeyes have the best record (6-0) and the most impressive resume. They get a well deserved week off. Michigan. The Wolverines are also undefeated and did [&hellip(Visited 2 times, 2 visits today)The post...
The Ohio State Buckeyes showed a large amount testicular fortitude in gutting and scrapping their way to a 40-30 victory over Northwestern Saturday night in Evanston. The Buckeye nation showed itself to be lacking in testicular fortitude as the message boards filled up with whining, crying Bucks fans certain that everything we wanted for this team was lost after Northwestern ‘hit...
Ohio State continued their undefeated season Saturday evening, by narrowly defeating Northwestern 40-30 in a game far closer than the score indicates. How did the defense perform?
Northwestern lead at halftime but allowed 27 second-half points to No. 4 Ohio State.
Earlier today from the Big Ten offices in Rosemont, Ill., the conference announced that three Ohio State football players garnered weekly awards. Senior running back Carlos Hyde was named the Big Ten’s Co-Offensive Player of […]
