While the Baltimore Orioles will get a look at top prospect Kevin Gaussman today as he starts against the Toronto Blue Jays, but another highly-touted prospect in the organization will have to sit before he can continue to show the team what he's got.  Jonathan Schoop has been diagnosed with a stress fracture in his back.  He will need a few weeks to recover. Schoop is not quite as highly-rated as Gaussman, but he was still ranked the 82nd best prospect in all of baseball prior to the 2012 season.  Schoop has played 34 games at Triple-A this season and is likely nearing a call-up.  However, he will have to wait on that call up thanks to the injury.  He will be out 6-8 weeks says Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun. Schoop has a stress fracture in back. Likely wok need 6 to 8 weeks of rest.Meet w a doc for 2nd opinion. — Dan Connolly (@danconnollysun) May 22, 2013 Schoop has been in the Orioles' minor league system since 2009.  He's progressed from rookie ball to Triple-A in that time.  Overall, Schoop is a career .266/.335/.395 hitter in the minors.  He has not exactly been fantastic, but the Orioles still think they have something in him with which they can build on. When the team does finally call Schoop up, they will have to find room for him.  He is a middle infielder by nature, but the Orioles are pretty well set with J.J Hardy at shortstop and Yamaico Navarro at second.  It's a nice problem to have - being deep with talent - but at some point the Orioles will have to make a decision.  For now, though, Schoop can just focus on recovery.
