What has been discussed about for a little while will officially be announced on Sunday (per the Orlando Sentinel) as Penn State will play UCF in Ireland. It will mark the next collegiate football game played over in Ireland since Notre Dame took on Navy back during last season where the Fighting Irish won 50-10.
There have been five college football games in total that have been played in Ireland.
There is not much history between the two programs. They met in 2002 where Penn State hosted UCF and beat the Golden Knights 27-24. The next meeting came in 2004 where Penn State played host and won again by the score of 37-13.
This matchup does not excite me one bit. I was not expecting a premier game to be played overseas, as this is more likely about spreading the appeal of the game that is referred to as American Football to overseas.
