The Pittsburgh Steelers’ win over the New York Jets last week puts more juice into the first Ravens Week of the 2013 season. Had the Steelers started 0-5, their only motivation Sunday would have been to stick their biggest rival with a loss that could come back to haunt them when they’re fighting for a playoff spot. Now, a win over the Ravens would improve the Steelers’ record to 2-4, and they’d no longer be facing lottery-like odds to make the playoffs. It’s still too early, however, for the Steelers to think about the playoffs. They have to go 9-2, maybe 8-3, the rest of the way to have any shot at playing in January. For now, the Steelers still have to think like spoilers. The Steelers would pull to within a half-game of the Ravens with a win Sunday and make the Ravens’ path to the Super Bowl more difficult. They’d also make it clear that the Ravens are suffering from a Super Bowl hangover. After watching the Steelers win Super Bowl XL and Super Bowl XLIII, the Ravens finally ha...

Troy Polamalu jumps over line too early trying to block extra point

Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu made a valiant effort to time the snap on an extra point block attempt against Baltimore during the fourth quarter of Sunday's game at Heinz Field.  Polamalu made a nice leap over the Ravens center, but he was just a bit too early.  Still, Polamalu gets an 'A' for effort on this play. Pittsburgh Steelers: Sean Spence’s Return Would Be a Different Kind of Victory

Even though the Pittsburgh Steelers didn’t make the playoffs in 2012, Charlie Batch did lead them to a dramatic upset of the eventual Super Bowl-champion Baltimore Ravens in early December. When Shaun Suisham’s field goal sailed through the uprights as time ran out in Baltimore, Batch and Ben Roethlisberger embraced for at least 30 seconds. They knew they were nearing the end...

Pittsburgh Steelers: “Kicking” it up a notch

The Pittsburgh Steelers have won two straight games. The Steelers beat their divisional rivals, the Baltimore Ravens, 19-16 in dramatic fashion. Shaun Suisham kicked a game winning field goal in the final seconds to lift the Steelers over the Ravens. Suisham just might be the team’s MVP so far this season. The kicker deserves a lot of credit. Suisham was a perfect 4 for 4 against...

Troy Polamalu--a Beast and a Goof!

You can't count on the Steelers to win all the time now. Ben Roethlisberger? Not the same fantasy friendly QB he used to be. You certainly can't count on the running game for much, and even the defense these days is not as beastly as it once was. However, you can always count on one thing. Troy Polamalu. From Bleacher Report Polamalu has been making big...

Pittsburgh Steelers Defeat Baltimore Ravens, But Still Have Some Work to Do on Defense

Did anyone else expect to see Ben Roethlisberger go all Jim Valvano and run across the Heinz Field turf desperately looking for Charlie Batch after Sunday’s game? Aren’t Batch and Roethlisberger supposed to engage in a minute-long bro hug whenever Shaun Suisham kicks a last-second field goal in a Pittsburgh Steelers’ win over the Baltimore Ravens? Suisham’s 42-yard field...

Jason Worilds Ready To Step In If Needed

By Matthew Marczi Over the past couple years, the Pittsburgh Steelers were more often than not able to turn to Jason Worilds whenever they needed an injury replacement at outside linebacker, either for James Harrison or LaMarr Woodley. This year, he was supposed to take the next step and become the starter, but after beginning the season with the title, it was just a week later that...

Jarvis Jones questionable for Steelers on Sunday

Steelers rookie outside linebacker Jarvis Jones diagnosed with a concussion Wednesday has been listed as questionable for the game Sunday at Heinz Field against the Baltimore Ravens. Troy Polamalu Delivers Crushing Blow To Tandon Doss (Video)

Troy Polamalu has been showing flashes of his old self these past few weeks, and it reprises his former role of best defender in the game when he absolute crushes Ravens wide receiver Tandon Doss coming across the middle. As is always the case with Polamalu, he took a blow while giving one as well.  Kudos to Doss for hanging on as well. A few more hits like that, and this thing...
