The New York Rangers didn’t find the sense of urgency they needed following their 4-0 loss Saturday and it cost them again as they fell 2-1 in Florida Wednesday night.  The lack of offense was obvious, but the Rangers are back to the utter lack of energy and effort that was plaguing them to start the season as well.  If that does not change quickly, then the positive of the seven game win streak will disappear in the standings very quickly as the competition level is only increasing and the schedule getting more compact. Florida outskated the Rangers for the entire first period with Jason Garrison making them pay on the power play at 10:06.  Garrison was left all alone for a bomb from the point scoring his league leading eighth goal by a defenseman.  That didn’t wake New York up as they let Kris Versteeg put them in a 2-0 whole in the opening seconds of the second period.  Tomas Fleischmann completely undressed Artem Anisimov before finding a wide-open Verstee...

Will Hagelin Be a Ranger This Season?

Having an outstanding beginning to his professional career, Carl Hagelin is becoming an offensive weapon for the CT Whale in the AHL. With Hagelin contributing in every way imaginable, the question of whether he breaks the Rangers roster this year deserves to be raised. With 12 points (7 goals) in 16 games and an outstanding +10 already, Hagelin is thriving on the ice.  He’s...

Pregame: Rangers Look to Snap Skid Against Capitals

It's amazing to me that we are almost two months into the season and today will be the very first time the Rangers and Capitals square off this year. The last time these two met was back in April at the Verizon Center for Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, which the Rangers lost to be eliminated from the playoffs. Having played each other twice in the playoffs over...

Portland Pirates 2 – Connecticut Whale 3

Hartford, Connecticut – Brendan Bell scored a power-play goal with 1:31 remaining in the overtime period as the Connecticut Whale defeated the Portland Pirates by a count of 3-2 this evening at the XL Center.   Blake Parlett and Jonathan Audy-Marchessault also found the back of the net for Connecticut and Tim Erixon assisted on all three goals as the Whale won their third...

Rangers Embark on Tough Stretch

No one expected the Rangers to win-out the rest of the season. That’s just a silly thought. But during their seven-game winning streak, which was snapped when they put up a clunker against the Montreal Canadiens, the Rangers showed signs of regaining the form that has made them succeed in the past. When their streak [...]

Will Zuccarello, Hagelin or Another Connecticut Whale Be The One To Replace Deveaux?

New York Rangers forward Andre Deveaux is likely to be suspended for his elbow to the head of Tomas Fleischmann leaving the team in need of another forward.  The problem with projecting either as the callup is the utter lack of knowledge as to what Tortorella is looking for from the player he would bring in from the Connecticut Whale.  The bottom six has been atrocious...

Power Outage - Rangers @ Panthers Post Game Thoughts

You have to be slightly concerned. Not on the scale of the typical jump-off-the-bridge Ranger fan, no, but you should still be slightly worried about what unfolded tonight, coupled with the game against the Habs, and what has been going on for much of the season. The troubling thing is NOT the lack of shots. I’ve never bought into that being a huge issue. It’s a little concerning...

SUNRISE, Fla. -- Rangers defenseman Marc Staal watched last night's 2-1 loss to the Panthers from the press box, as he continues to deal with post-concussion symptoms. That meant Staal had a clear view of the ice midway through the second period when his teammate, forward Andre Deveaux, caught...
