Found November 03, 2011 on The Rangers Tribune:

The New York Rangers have officially signed unrestricted free agent defenseman Anton Stralman to a one-year, $900,000 contract, per Bob McKenzie of TSN. The Rangers have been tied to the 25-year-old's name for several weeks now, being that Marc Staal (post-concussion headaches) does not appear to be returning to the lineup anytime soon.

If you are expecting Stralman to fill Staal's shoes, you are kidding yourself. Stralman is here simply because he has experience, plays a straightforward game and will fit well into the Rangers' defensive system. He is a slight upgrade from Jeff Woywitka in terms of mobility, so that may have been GM Glen Sather's thought process when sending out an offer to Stralman.

In 51 games played with the Columbus Blue Jackets last season, Stralman registered one goal and 17 assists with a minus-11 overall rating.

It’s Go Time!

Game 11. Fourth of a six-game homestand. Rematch of the classic Game 2 breakaway contest in Stockholm (ok, maybe not a classic). Henrik Lundqvist back in goal against the Mighties. Otherwise, same lineup as Monday’s Halloween win over Soft Joe and the Sharks. Which means Sean Avery is prucha’d. Mike Rupp (knee) and Marc Staal (concussion symptoms) remain out.
