PLAYERS: Octavio Dotel
TEAMS: Detroit Tigers
After numerous setbacks, Octavio Dotel may be on the right path finally.  The Detroit Tigers' veteran reliever threw a scoreless inning in relief yesterday at High-A Lakeland, and he should continue progressing from there.  Dotel has been on the DL since April.  As he has has tried to come back, he hit road block after road block.  Now, things are looking like he might be able to return this season after all. According to Cash Kruth of, Dotel is scheduled to throw another inning in relief tonight at High-A, then the Tigers will re-evaluate him.  Manager Jim Leyland says the team is not sure when he will officially return, though.  They have not discussed nor set a timeframe for Dotel's activation. Right elbow inflammation landed the 39-year old Dotel on the DL back in April.  He was fortunate not to have any structural damage, but it seemed every time he tried to come back an pitch, he hit a setback.  Additional pain, discomfort, or soreness kept limiting Dotel's ability to make rehab appearances.  Now, he might finally be healed and able to pitch through to a return to the Tigers' 25-man rotation. Dotel has pitched in the Majors for 15 years.  He is 59-50 with a 3.78 ERA in his career.  Dotel has played with nearly half of all the teams in baseball.  He has pitched for 13 different teams.  The largest chunk of time with one team came with Houston.  With the Astros, Dotel posted his lowest ERA - 3.25 - and spent five seasons with the organization.  He has been a serviceable reliever, but he's never been an All-Star.  When healthy, he can certainly help the Tigers' bullpen. Scherzer record not whole Cy story

One candidate is a Detroit Tiger putting together the type of season -- in traditional statistics -- not seen in decades. Nope, although we indeed may be headed for a reprise of the debate that set Twitter aflame one year ago. Baseball'...

VIDEO: Anibal Sanchez helps Miguel Cabrera relieve some tension…

Get your mind out of the gutters everyone, Sanchez gave Cabby a back rub in the dugout and a much deserved one after the Tigers slugger has been suffering from back issues in recent weeks plus he just tied the game with yet another home run.
