Mark this down as what will likely be the only worthy Miami Marlins highlight this year, save for a gargantuan Giancarlo Stanton home run or their hideous home run “sculpture” in left-center field becomes self aware and goes on a killing spree. A rather voluptuous fan and her ample assets were enjoying a Marlins spring training game against the Tigers when said fan was almost hit with a foul ball off the bat of Miami outfielder Chris Coghlan. Luckily for her our Marlins fan was able to get down quickly (mind out of the gutter pervs) and avoid being nailed in the head by the ball. The only thing more surprising than her agility was the fact that no man in the vicinity jumped on this lovely lass to protect her from the wayward baseball. Apparently chivalry is dead, even when it comes to curvy, attractive female baseball fans in tight shirts and cutoff jean shorts. Curvaceous gal nearly drilled by screaming foul ball at spring training game (video)

This one requires little setup other than to mention that this nearly injurious scene occurred during a spring training game between the Detroit Tigers and the Miami Marlins on March 25 and that the screaming liner of a foul ball came off the bat of Marlins outfielder Chris Coghlan. Oh, one other thing: The fan nearly drilled by the ball happens to be quite curvaceous in the chest...

Miami Marlins lineup breakdown

The Miami Marlins enter the 2013 season with an offense that will rely on manufacturing runs. Small ball. Getting on base. Plate discipline. Advancing runners. Stealing bases. Those are all phrases rookie manager Mike Redmond hopes will be applied often to his team this season. Sure, Giancarlo Stanton is among the majors top power hitters, but hell have trouble hitting bombs without...

Miami Marlins Top 20 Prospects

The Marlins had a few key guys in their system at the end of last year, but really did well in rebuilding a system that was key in 2 championships during their short lifespan. It will be little consolation to the people of Miami if this doesn’t work for a 3rd time. Note: Avg ranking takes the average of any site I could find that had team rankings (sum of ranks divided by total...

Miami Marlins 2013 Season Preview

The Marlins enter the upcoming 2013 season with one real reason to watch: Giancarlo Stanton. This is akin to what the Marlins did after they won their World Series titles, especially in 1997. They purged and got rid of every name you’ve heard of. Out of all the young guys that get playing time this season, only a select few will dot the roster when this team is competitive again...

JUPITER, Fla. (AP) -- Outfielder Matt Diaz has agreed to a minor league contract with the Miami Marlins following his release by the New York Yankees. The Marlins also said Tuesday they...

Few spectators, lots of losses likely for Marlins

Rain delays are a thing of the past, but otherwise, Marlins home games this season will be a lot like the old days. That means no waiting for hot dogs, modest competition for foul balls and lots of appeal for folks who like to be by themselves. As the Miami Marlins begin their second year in a futuristic, retractable-roof stadium that was supposed to transform the franchise, they...

Marlins 8, Nationals 5

Without a home run for a month, Mike Stanton ended his slump dramatically. Stanton homered twice, including a drive high off the hitters' background screen in center field, to help the Miami Marlins defeat the Washington Nationals 8-5 Tuesday. Stanton's homers, his first since Feb. 26, gave him three in the exhibition season. They were his first since returning from the...

JUPITER, Fla. (AP) -- Cardinals manager Mike Matheny is impressed with Lance Lynn's steady improvement in spring training. Lance Lynn delivered what was easily his best outing of spring training and three relievers made a first-inning run stand up for the St. Louis Cardinals in a 1-0 victory over the Miami Marlins on Thursday. Lynn allowed only two hits in six innings while striking...

FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) -- Jon Lester prepared for his opening day start by pitching four scoreless innings for the Boston Red Sox in a 4-1 loss Wednesday to the Miami Marlins. Kevin...

2013 MLB Preview: National League East

NL East At A Glance Miami Marlins: The team that essentially alienated whatever fan base they thought they had looks like an obvious 5th place team in this division. They do however have the best player in the division in Giancarlo Stanton. No matter what the rumors say, I still think Giancarlo is a Marlin for a very long time. If I’m wrong, I hope I’m apologizing on my way to...
