All Sports Everything:
The New York Knicks haven’t even tipped off the new season, and yet, a familiar pessimism regarding the outlook of their 2013-2014 season permeates throughout NYC and NBA circles everywhere. The team’s already been eulogized about a million and one times. Cause of death? The usual — yada, yada, yada. Pick your poison. Every article written takes a doom and gloom approach to predicting the Knicks’ chances. Writers who’ve shown mercy on the Knicks predict a fifth seed finish. Others have them finishing lower. Basically, it’s Murphy’s Law. Everything that can go wrong, will go wrong. However, when juxtaposing other NBA teams against the Knicks, it’s quite the contrary. Other teams are always given the benefit of the doubt. In their case, everything that can go right, will go right.
Admittedly, I understand part of the reason it’s always open season on the Knicks is because of their insufferable and oft indefensible owner, James Dolan. His antics, overspending, poor hirings, odd firings, and much more haven’t made him a strong contender for any Best Owner of the Year awards ever. So imagine the uproar an anonymous ‘Source’ caused when he credited Dolan with reportedly saying, he believes the team has enough talent to win a championship this season. When I read the headline, Source: Dolan Expects to Win, I chuckled because, why is this news?
What should Dolan say in a meeting to the staff that he hired? None of you have what it takes to coach us to a championship? Yes, we have the second-highest payroll in the league but no one’s worth their weight in gold? Andrea Bargnani is every bit the bust that everyone expected? Amar’e Stoudemire is a leach who’s sucking up cap space? J.R. Smith and Ron Artest are headcases who are always on their worst behavior and incapable of making headlines for all the right reasons? Everything they say about Melo never being able to win is true? Coach Woodson, you’re a colossal screw up and collapse artist every postseason? I don’t expect anything better from you?
I mean, cut the dude some slack. Even he’s entitled to feel hopeful about his team’s chances, especially with a 0-0 record. And please, don’t mistake my take on this as a Dolan endorsement. As a lifelong Knicks fan, there’s no way I could defend half of the ******** he’s done since his tenure began. But I also know how the media’s influence is more powerful than people are willing to admit. And the timing of this ‘Source’s’ generous scoop, hours before tipoff, is more than convenient.
When I see headlines that serve no purpose other than to provide discord among players, the team, or fan base, I ignore them. Instead, I maintain a positive, yet realistic, outlook until their record says to do otherwise.
Tonight, the Knicks will take the court against the Milwaukee Bucks and begin the 2013-2014 campaign of silencing all cynics. Show ‘n’ prove, fellas!

When James Dolan sat down with the coaching staff earlier this month, his message to the group was plain and simple, and yes, somewhat unrealistic.
“He said he believes the team is good enough to win a championship,” says a person with knowledge of the meeting. “That’s what he thinks.”
Now, I have no idea what Mike Woodson’s reaction was to Dolan’s declaration about...
Almost every informed observer believes the Knicks are positioned for a step backward this season. So what does it say about Knicks owner James Dolan that he expects his team to win it all this season?
Dolan told his coaching staff in a preseason meeting that he is setting the bar extremely high this year, the New York Daily News reports. High expectations are not a bad thing, but...
Knicks vs Bucks: MSG 7:30PM
Tonight starts another journey towards a championship. Armed with many new players, Mike Woodson and his staff begin another season with one goal in mind…an NBA Championship. Do the Knicks have enough is the question we will ask all year until come playoff time.
Tonight it starts with the Bucks who come into town looking to spoil the Knicks...
The New York Knicks knocked off the Milwaukee Bucks in their season opener 90-83. This had the look of a laugher at halftime, as the Knicks jumped out to a 25 point lead. But of course, these are the Knicks who still haven’t cured last season’s issue of putting inferior teams away. They were actually trailing 81-80 in the final two minutes but thanks to a final flurry led by...
Andrea Bargnani heard some boos in his home debut with the New York Knicks on Wednesday night.
Bargnani finished the Knicks' season opening win six points and shooting 3-for-9 in 17 minutes of play.
Bargnani's teammates believe the former No. 1 overall pick will get adjusted to the environment at Madison Square Garden and perform well.
"This is New York. It's the...
As you might already know, New York Knicks guard Iman Shumpert got his signature flat top removed via a hair cut.
What we here at TNLP and some others didn’t know was that Iman had his hair cut recorded for a YouTube video and I guess we can say R.I.P to the flat top:

In the preseason coach Mike Woodson chose to start a traditional lineup as opposed to the two point guard alignment the New York Knicks had success with last year. The smaller lineup included playing Carmelo Anthony at the power forward. However, in the preseason coach Mike Woodson chose to start new Knicks’ acquisition Andrea Bargnani...
Real live New York Knickerbockers basketball is upon us. The Knicks begin the 2013-14 season hosting the new-look Milwaukee Bucks. Gone are the free-wheeling, oft-chucking back court duo of Brandon Jennings and Monta Ellis, while in are the likes of Brandon Knight, O.J. Mayo, Luke Ridnour, Caron Butler and Gary Neal.

The countdown is coming to an end, as the Knicks open their season at home against the Milwaukee Bucks tonight at 7:30. Before the NBA season tips off, I’ll leave Knick Nation with some questions about the team and my predictions.
Will The Knicks Key Players Stay Healthy?
Obviously, health is the key for any sport and any team, but when looking at the recent injury...
Carmelo Anthony had 19 points and 10 rebounds, making a pair of baskets in a finishing run after New York had blown a 25-point lead, and the Knicks beat the Milwaukee Bucks 90-83 on Wednesday night in the season opener for both teams.
Seemingly coasting to a second straight opening-night blowout, the Knicks instead were behind with less than 3 minutes remaining before Tyson Chandler...
The infamous Iman Shumpert flat top is gone.
When talking about the Knicks guard, it was nearly impossible not to mention his hair and that’s part of the reason he decided to cut it.
It’s good to see Shumpert had a talk with himself and decided to take things more seriously.
Bronsalino’s mixtape produced by Party Supplies is due out November 1. Find out why Patrick Ewing missed that lay up in the trailer above.
