An unspeakable tragedy occurred in a small town in Oklahoma over the weekend as an Australian man attending a nearby college on a baseball scholarship was shot shot and killed in what police can only describe as a random killing by a trio of three "bored" teenagers who claimed to have killed the man just for the fun of it.Christopher Lane, 22, was found dead Friday while visiting his girlfriend in the town of Duncan. Autopsy reports are still pending and it is unclear how many times Lane was shot.Lane had reportedly gone for a jog and just so happened to pass by the home where the three boys were staying. It was then when the teens decided to target Lane as their victim and allegedly did so out of boredom.Duncan Police Chief Danny Ford said a woman called police after she witnessed Lane stagger across the road and fall to the ground."They saw Christopher go by, and one of them said: 'There's our target,' " Ford said. "The boy who has talked to us said, 'We were bored and didn't have anything to do, so we decided to kill somebody.'"They followed him in the car to that area, shot him in the back and drove off," Ford said. One of the teens has already given a detailed confession to authorities. However, the murder weapon has not been located yet.Lane's girlfriend, Sarah Harper, told the Australian Broadcasting Corp. that the two had only returned to the United States from Australia in the last week."He didn't deserve any of this," Harper told the network. "It's heartbreaking that it was such a random choice those guys made that drastically altered so many lives in the process."Lane was heading into his senior year at East Central University in Ada, located about 85 miles west of Duncan. Lane started 14 games at catcher last season. The district attorney is expected to file first-degree murder charges Tuesday. It is not known whether the prosecutor will try the teenagers as adults or juveniles. The boys, ages 15, 16, and 17 are in custody and slated to appear in court Tuesday afternoon.

  • These punks need to be tried as adults and sent away for the rest of their stinking lives. They have destroyed the lives of a number of people with this callous and vicious act...now they need to spend the rest of their lives behind bars so they can think about it.
